The Southern Delegation of the National Association of Golf Seniors (ANSG) held today the Tournament Solverde Seniores Casinos of the Algarve in the Dom Pedro golf course Pinhal (Vilamoura), with 71 players from 32 clubs in the north, center, Alentejo and Algarve.

The absolute champion was Henrique Pinheiro with 40 points, followed by João Esteves 39 and Luís Zacarias 38.

In gross won José Cândido de Oliveira with 29 points, leaving António Gravelho in 2nd with 26, and Carlos Poucochinho also with 26.

The women’s event was won by Maria José Pinto, the senior national champion, with 37 points, leaving Iride Graf in 2nd and Elvira Gama in 3rd place.

In the Super Seniors the winner was Rui Serra de Matos with 37 points, followed by Luís Gama 36 and Eduardo Godinho 35.

In the guests won Geraldino Contino with 35 points, followed by Julian Reynolds.

Another great day of golf in Vilamoura.

On June 1st, the renowned Old Course of The San Roque Golf Courses reopened after having undergone an intense renovation that lasted almost a year.

The golf course opened in 1991 and quickly became one of Sotogrande’s preferred golf courses, with its Old Course, originally designed by Dave Thomas, known alongside the Real Club Valderrama Golf Course and the Real Club Sotogrande Golf Course, like the ‘golden triangle’ of golf in Spain.

Regarding the technical aspects of the Old Course and after a comprehensive renovation that lasted eleven months, the best golf course in the San Roque estate confirms its commitment to excellence, implementing the highest standards of maintenance that can be found on the best golf courses in Europe.

The first thought was to make the golf course as dry as possible, to be played firm and fast but it also had to be sustainable.

On the renovated golf course, the new layout that eliminates the old hilly areas and replaces them with fertilizer areas is surprising. This produces and gives it a very different personality from the rest of the golf courses in the area.

The greens, bunkers and all game elements have been redesigned to improve the playing experience. The goal of the golf course is that players choose The San Roque Golf Course year after year as a destination for their golf breaks or as their golf course of reference for residents in the area.
