The tribute took place at the Laguna Golf Course clubhouse, with Miguel Franco de Sousa, President of the FPG, presenting this prestigious award. This honour recognises individuals, organisations, or institutions significantly contributing to national golf.

Joaquim Sequeira’s contributions to Portuguese golf are unparalleled. Since 1985, he has been a key figure at the Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura, where he has not only coached but also inspired and mentored countless young talents. Under his leadership, the club’s teams have won 17 National Club Championships and numerous titles in the Under-18 and Under-14 categories. His crowning achievement came in 2013 when he led his team to triumph in the European Club Championship, a historic first for Portugal. Beyond his coaching successes, Sequeira has also developed several players who now compete on the European Tour and European Challenge Tour. He claimed four National Senior Professional Championship titles as a golfer, further solidifying his legacy.

Under the slogan “Algarve. The holidays you deserve,” the campaign positions the Algarve as the ultimate dream vacation spot.

The campaign focuses on showcasing the idyllic landscapes and wide range of tourist experiences in the Algarve. It aims to communicate effectively with audiences in Portugal and Andalusia, mainly targeting the 8.6 million-person Andalusian community. The campaign is thoughtfully designed to appeal to a broad demographic, ensuring everyone, from adventurous youth to families and seniors, feels included and catered to and is encouraged to experience this region’s exceptional offerings.
