Alto Golf & Country Club, located in Portugal’s Western Algarve, is a premier golf and country club resort, set in beautifully landscaped gardens with villas, apartments and townhouses, many with superb views of the sea, the golf course or the fabulous gardens.|The winding fairways and elevated greens reflect Sir Henry’s golfing philosophy of providing low handicap players with a testing game and still affording plenty of enjoyment for players at average club level and providing satisfaction and inspiration for beginners. The opening nine holes offer fine views over the bay of Lagos. The back nine, set on rolling slopes, include the remarkable Henry Cotton Challenge, the longest Par 5 in Europe.
Course in great condition greens very nice
Great little course but tricky with small greens and quite hilly.

Very enjoyable round of golf
A testing golf course with many changes of elevation, twisting fairways and small greens. Very welcoming staff and great value for money.
Narrow fairways, not rely Portugal feeling
Great greens, fast and true. First nine treelined holes were good. Last nine holes some blind holes, not so good. Overall nice and pleasant parkland resort course.
A great course in good condition. The greens are small and accuracy is essential and if you are good enough to work it both way it helps. The greens were a little slow but it’s the height of summer so they are protecting them. The course was empty I was on a twilight round from 1430 hrs. Well worth a visit.
Loved Alto. Course in good condition apart from bunkers were rock hard. Nice greens, a pleasure
Lovely course but difficult especially holes nr 12 and 14 which par 4 but shud be a 5 since they are long and quite difficult but its an adventure and therefor we hv to accept
Overall - a good value experience . Tee boxes ok , fairways on the whole very good , greens consistent - but slow , bunkers poor . Played the course twice in last 5 days . Would play again.
Check in was nice and easy and the clubhouse restaurant staff were friendly and quick. The course looked busy when we arrived for a 2.30p.m tee-off and so it proved to be once we set off round the course. The course itself was in good condition but it was too packed and inevitably we were held up and the delays increased as we played through the back 9. This was a real shame as we enjoyed the course which is quite challenging but also rewarding. Some marshalls on the course would have been useful. Other than that we'd still like to return there one day!
