Penina Champoinship Golf Course was previously known as the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Golf Course. The main 18 holes provide the most demanding test of a players skill in the Algarve, if not in Portugal. The inevitable difficulty that a flat landscape and terrain creates with club selection, the holes are crossed and flanked by a series of streams, ditches and water hazards, demanding precisely executed shots to avoid trouble and achieve par.|The course is beautifully maintained, winding past tall stands of eucalyptus and clumps of palm to mainly elevated greens which have subtle slopes and sometimes treacherous speeds.

Penina always a good test as it’s one of the longer courses. Was in good condition mainly. Greens were nice apart from last few which have some disease.

Not played here for a few years. Sadly it’s seen better days and the course, whilst still a challenge, is tired and the worst state I’ve ever seen it in. Looks like hardly anyone repairs their pitch marks anymore

Lovely course but has lost its attraction. Very poor maintenance and condition. Areas around bunkers not maintained with high grass growing on edge of bunkers. Will think twice about playing here again... Gramacho/Pinta better option for the same Rate.

Always a joy to play here. Course taken a fair bit of wear but great true greens. Staff very good and top breakfast in restaurant beforehand

Given the problem with lack of rain the course was in very good condition. The staff at reception and on the course were very welcoming. Highly recommended.

This is a excellent lay out of a golf course with some excellent hole's but could do with some TLC.

Very nice course that we've played before. Feeling the effects of the dry weather - tees in particular already brown and sandy in early May.
Around in just over 4 hours which is very reasonable.
No on course refreshments.
Would play again.

Greens excellent, some fairways with bare areas but golfers can put up with a lot if the greens good
