A Golf Tournament in Costa Del Sol and Madrid , at the same time

Chaparral Golf Club from in Costa Del Sol and the Centro Nacional de Golfe from Madrid joined forces in the development of a unique event. A virtual golf tournament was held at the same time at both facilities.

The tournament took place in the academy of both clubs, thanks to Toptracer. Thanks to their technology, participants were able to experience golf in a high-fidelity virtual environment, simulating the Old Course at St Andrews, for many the most iconic golf course in Europe.

Players from a variety of golf clubs came together to celebrate the shared vision of advancing the sport’s evolution at the event. In addition, authorities from Mijas Town Hall gave their support to the event at Chaparral Golf Club, underscoring its importance to the community support of the sport in general.

Golf Courses Under Renovation

Mataleñas Golf course in Santander, northern Spain, is under renovation. The project aims to improve the overall visitor experience. All greens, bunkers, and short game areas of the course will be tackled. The driving range roof and lighting will also be renovated. The work should be concluded by next spring.

La Rasa de Berbes Golf, in Asturias, finished the renovation of the green on the back 9.

Getting Into a New Trend

The opening of ‘Calma’, a new lounging area located on the 9th green to the 10th tee of the Links course at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort. It gives golfers the opportunity to sit back and enjoy spectacular uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, and the distant North African coastline while enjoying a delicious menu based on local Andalusian produce.

Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for golfers and 8:00pm to midnight for the general public. The new facility, built using the best bioclimatic practices and sustainable materials with a near-zero carbon footprint, offers a selection of freshly made tapas, snacks, and desserts for players to enjoy as well as inviting members and visitors to pause for fifteen minutes before continuing their rounds.

Should more courses follow suit?

Jon Rahm’s Golf Garden

Jon Rahm, a reference in Spanish, European and world golf, has inaugurated ‘El Jardín del Golf’, a recreational facility for children and adolescents admitted to the Niño Jesús University Hospital in Madrid.

European Redemption at Marco Simone’s 2023 Ryder Cup

The 2023 Ryder Cup played in Rome proved to be one of the most emblematic ever. Winning a Ryder Cup is a difficult endeavor that needs a lot of hard work, statistics and analytics, difficult decisions, emotional management. On top of it all, the players must perform, and it is up to the captains to provide the platform for the players to do so.

The opening ceremony provided a preview of what was to come. When both captains talked, it was evident that Luke Donald did his work with utmost precision and passion, spoke with great confidence. Which some could say lacked to Zach Johnson.

To win any sporting event, preparation and planning are essential. While Luke Donald’s men competed in the weeks preceding up to the Ryder Cup and the Italian Open at Marco Simone in previous years, the majority of Zach Johnson’s men had four weeks off and a couple even skipped the team’s preparatory trip to Marco Simone.

With redemption on their minds the European blasted through the gate on session one. Swept the Americans in the foursomes to open the Ryder Cup with a 4-0 lead. The Americans were expected to respond in the afternoon, but the Europeans clawed three matches back to all square and clinched the other point in Friday’s afternoon fourballs session. On Saturday, the largest winning margin in a Ryder Cup match was recorded, 9&7. Sunday was a fantastic Ryder Cup day, just as everyone had hoped. The Europeans started strong, but the momentum shifted, and the Ryder Cup was left to be decided in the final three matches. There was an instance where the Americans appeared to have the upper hand, but Fleetwood, Lowry, and McIntyre fought valiantly to maintain the blue on the board and bring the Cup back to Europe. The final score was Europe’s 16 ½, to USA’s 11 ½.

The many risk-reward holes added to the drama at Marco Simone. The golf course looked magnificent and truly is a great match play site. As usual, the crowds were incredible. Another advantage is the amphitheater-style design, which produced fantastic environments around the tees and greens.

Despite the commercials and several shots not being shown, this was a terrific Ryder Cup to watch. Europe got their redemption and already had their sights set on the away Ryder Cup in 2025 at Bethpage Black in New York.

Portugal Golf – International Pairs Golf Final returns to Portugal

International Pairs Golf Óbidos 2023. Portugal hosts another International Pairs Golf final.

International Pairs Golf Final returns to Portugal for the 4th time in 7 years

The International Pairs Golf World Final 2023 will be held at Royal Óbidos and Bom Sucesso, in the Lisbon region, from 6 to 10 November.

Armandt Scholtz, managing director of International Pairs Golf, says that Portugal “has always been a great place for the event, with its beautiful golf courses, friendly people, and lively culture”, and that “the International Pairs tournament has had the privilege of hosting previous finals in the Algarve from 2017-2019″.

For a number of reasons, Portugal stood out as an outstanding choice for the event’s final. To begin, Portugal has become a well-known golf destination that draws golf fans worldwide. The country has a huge number of excellent golf courses with a wide range of landscapes and difficult layouts that appeal to both amateur and professional players.

According to Armandt Scholtz: “There are many economic, cultural, and publicity benefits for Portugal that come from hosting the International Pairs World Final: the event brings a lot of people to the area, which creates jobs, brings in more tax money, and helps the business grow in general. It makes the country more well-known in the world of golf and has a good effect on tourism, local businesses, and community involvement”.

The managing director of the competition also says that the tournament brings business opportunities in the hospitality, food and beverage, retail, transport, tourism, sponsorship, advertising and event services sectors.

Scholtz affirms that golf is very important to tourism and could have a big effect on the industry. Over the holidays, golfers tend to stay longer so they have time to try out new courses while they move around the country.

Another interesting statistic is that golf generally attracts “high value” tourists who have a higher disposable income and are willing to spend a little more during their golf holiday. This plays an important role in the overall growth of the economy of a region.
