The four-month renovation project, set to be completed in February 2025, promises significant upgrades to the 18-hole course and its facilities. Overseen by Troon’s Vice President of Agronomy, Simon Doyle, and the Troon Design and Development team, the initiative introduces an impressive island green at the par-3 12th hole. This signature feature, surrounded by an expanded lake system, not only adds dramatic visual appeal but also bolsters the habitat for local wildlife, emphasising sustainability.

Salgados Golf Club is already celebrated for its eco-conscious practices, being the only course in Portugal to irrigate exclusively with 100% effluent water. The renovation includes a cutting-edge Rain Bird irrigation system optimised for efficient water use. Improvements like laser-leveled tee boxes and newly reshaped bunkers with fresh sand will elevate the playing experience.

Estoril Golf Club recently hosted the Mim Roque de Pinho Cup, an annual match-play event that brings together young golfers under 25 and mid-amateurs in a spirited competition. Held on the first weekend of December, the tournament showcased vibrant rivalry, inclusivity, and camaraderie, epitomizing the values that both Estoril Golf Club and Tee Times stand for: a love for golf, community, and nurturing future talent.

A Showcase of Exceptional Talent 

The junior team featured promising talents such as Vasco Figueiredo, Diogo Soares Franco, Francisco Anjos, Guilherme Brehm, Sebastião Parreira, Martim Andrade, Zé Miguel Franco de Sousa, Konstantin Mikirtumov, Leonardo Tilly, Paul Devillers, and Miguel Nunes Pedro, who served as the non-playing captain. On the opposing side, the Mid-Amateurs fielded seasoned players like José Sousa e Melo, Nuno Castro, Pedro Guedes de Sousa, Frederico Batalha Reis, Miguel Mantero, Martim Ricciardi, Zé Maria Pinto Basto, and the tournament’s namesake and player-captain, Mim Roque de Pinho. 

The competition kicked off on Saturday with exciting foursome matches that set the tone for a weekend of intense play. On Sunday, the singles matches delivered nail-biting moments, culminating in a hard-fought victory for the Mid-Amateur team, who triumphed with a final score of 7-5 under the leadership of Mim Roque de Pinho.

Golf Son Vida’s exciting changes for 2025

Tee Time Adjustments and Hole 10 Modification

Golf Son Vida has announced that starting in 2025, all tee times will begin exclusively from Tee 1 all year round. Additionally, during the high season, the Double Tee system that had been in place will be discontinued due to the modification of Hole 10 to a Par 3. This player-centric change reflects their commitment to the improvement of the course’s overall pace and player satisfaction. 

Green Renovation Efforts

From January 7 to February 14, 2025, the renowned course has also announced that it will undertake the second phase of its green renovation project. During this time, it has been declared that Holes 10 through 18 will remain closed as a way to complete this significant improvement on the course. Note that you can still enjoy an 18-Hole experience by adjusting your game and completing two 9-Hole rounds on the available holes. 

This green renovation endeavour will include the implementation of a new, more sustainable and resilient type of grass, aligning with the course’s commitment to environmental stewardship and player satisfaction.
