Modern Greens for Los Lagos Golf Club

Modern Greend for Los Lagos Golf Club
The nine-hole course that Vidaor, Sardá & Saenger developed for the Los Lagos Golf Club in Zaragoza, which was initially named “Prados del Rey,” was shown to the public for the first time in 1997. During the year 2000, it underwent a name change and became known as the Los Lagos Golf Club. By the year 2002, Ramón Espinosa’s course had grown to include eighteen holes and was entirely open to the public.

Just recently, the administration of the club decided to begin a modernization journey by electing to upgrade the club’s irrigation system with cutting-edge CirrusPro technology and Rain Bird independent control, focusing on golf sustainability. At the moment, Green Natur has implemented this system in two of the holes, and they intend to implement it across the entire course by March 2024.

Daniel Sanchez, who is the golf sales manager for Rain Bird’s Iberian Peninsula division, is overjoyed. He says, “The Los Lagos Golf Club’s dedication to innovation, water conservation, and energy efficiency with CirrusPro and IC technology truly elevates its course quality.”

On the subject of the benefits that Rain Bird’s Integrated Control System (IC System) offers, Daniel provides further explanation by stating, “In today’s landscape, efficiency is key.” Through the provision of precise control and a wide range of benefits that extend beyond irrigation, the IC System improves operational efficiency. He then goes on to explain the capabilities of the system, pointing out how a greenkeeper may remotely monitor and handle individual components by utilising a variety of different devices. “The Integrated Control Interface Plus (ICI+) and IC CONNECT enhance flexibility, facilitating comprehensive management,” according to what he continues to explain.

Daniel places a strong emphasis on the streamlined architecture of the system, which simplifies installation, reduces cable usage by 90 percent, removes the need for splicing by fifty percent, and eliminates the requirement for additional equipment such as satellites and decoders. He concludes with the statement, “This efficient design not only ensures system reliability but also optimises labour costs, making expansions straightforward by integrating components wherever a MAXI cable is present.”

Spain Golf – Raimat Golf Club aims to build a pitch-and-putt course

Raimat Golf wants to build a pitch-and-putt course

Raimat Golf Club, one of Catalonia‘s iconic golf clubs, opened to the public in 1994. Now, club president José Ramón Gabás and Esport Recovery president Josep Maria Solanes want to take the club to a new level.

“When looking at things from a commercial and economic perspective, we are entering a new phase with a thriving economy and no outstanding debt. To achieve this goal, we will assign a competent professional to oversee each section of the club, and together we will conduct frequent checks to make sure our goals are being reached”, states Josep Maria Solanes.

“The key aim is to enlarge the social mass and produce adequate economic resources to continue a first-rate path and secure the future”, continues Solanes.

“Bank debt incurred by the club was too high to be absorbed. Nonetheless, the club’s debt has been eliminated thanks to a deal between Esport Recovery and the bank that saw the latter make a contribution and acquire the debt at a concession. We welcome new members at this time”, Solanes concluded.

Nevertheless, President Gabás said that a reduction in the price of water had been achieved, bringing the yearly cost down from €200,000 to €150,000.

A pitch-and-putt course, set to be built in the same sports area, will be the crown jewel of this next phase, requiring an expenditure of between €400,000 and €500,000. The goal is for it to be ready by the end of 2024.

“Because of its more manageable size, this style of golf course is ideal for novice golfers as well as those who just don’t have the time to devote to the sport. It would be a terrific addition to the new project we’re undertaking now, since it would give us a lot of momentum”, said Gabás and Solanes.

Another of the goals set by the new managers of Raimat Golf Club is to make golf available to everyone and break the stigma that it is an ‘elitist sport’. For this, the entity is going to promote initiation courses at affordable prices.

The famous Copa S. M. El Rey is currently taking place at one of the stunning Infinitum golf courses, in Catalonia. The popular amateur event started on February 28th and it will end on March 5th.

The 2023 edition of Spain’s International Amateur Men’s Championship, which has previously been held at stunning golf courses like El Saler, Real Sevilla, and Real Sotogrande, is being held at Infinitum Lakes.

This year’s Copa S.M. El Rey is being held in the Infinitum resort because of its stellar reputation as a premier event location, which was cemented in April 2022, when the resort’s Lakes course hosted the DP World Tour‘s ISPS Handa Championship, which ended up being won by the popular Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazábal.

Since 2017, Infinitum has also played host to the DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage, with last year’s event being dramatically won by Swedish golfer Simon Forsström over the course of six days.

The Costa Dorada venue has recently announced the hiring of a new director of golf, Joaquin Mora Bertrán, who will be responsible for overseeing all golf operations at Infinitum, including the resort’s three golf courses, two clubhouses, and golf academy.

Mora commented following his hiring, “I am happy to be chosen the new head of golf at Infinitum, a prestigious resort in a lovely region of Spain”.

“My goal is to provide golfers with a world-class experience at a venue with one of Europe’s best amenities. We are hosting the Copa S.M. El Rey, and we couldn’t be more excited!”, Mora concluded.
