Vilamoura offers for many, at only 30 minutes from Faro airport, everything that is required for a fulfilling family holiday in Portugal.

There are 2 beaches, Praia de Vilamoura is east of the Marina and Praia da Rocha Baixinha is to the west of the Marina. Both beaches offer facilities for a relaxing time.

This exciting facility offers 2 fun-packed 18-hole mini golf courses, a café with a children’s menu and a children’s games room. Plus, lockers for private belongings.

If there is the desire to go further afield, the following might be of interest: Aquashow & Park Hotel, Quarteira (near Vilamoura); Slide and Splash – water slide park, Lagoa; Zoo Marine, Albufeira; ‘FollowMe! Tours’ – offering many coach trips, all over the Algarve and beyond. Boat-trips with ‘Algarve Seafaris’ – Grotto tours, Glass-bottom boats, Fishing and Cruises.

The choice of golf courses in the area is excellent. These include Oceanico group, Vila Sol, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo.
Other facilities in Vilamoura include: A bike-hire scheme, which is operated by ‘Inframoura’. A lot of hotels offer access to this service, or similar.

The Vilamoura Tennis Club and Academy, offers multiple sports’ facilities for both adults and children, and a restaurant.

Cerro da Vila archaeological site (Roman ruins), near the north-end of the Marina. This open-air site displays remains of several types of Roman buildings. Along with artefacts from over 8 centuries, on display in the visitor centre.

The Algarve Beer Fest, an inaugural event for Albufeira, will be held in the Fisherman’s Square (Praça dos Pescadores) right by the Fisherman’s Beach (Praia dos Pescadores). With nearly 40 brands of craft beers from 10 different countries, this festival will truly be an international event.

These craft-beer companies will be from the countries of Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Greece, England, Scotland, Czech Republic, and the U.S.A.

Portugal will be strongly represented. The ‘Mean Sardine’ brewery, from Mafra in Lisbon, with their Zagaia and Amura beers will be there. Along with ‘The Three Brewers’ (Os Tres Cervejeiros), beer producing company with their selection of ‘Sovina’ branded beers, and also the national brands of ‘Vadia’ and ‘Maldita’ beers.

At this event, described as the ‘Craft Beer Party of the Summer’, food and entertainment will also be provided for those attending.
