8th Edition Algarve’s Premier 3-Day Amateur Golf Competition: Play Monte Rei, Quinta do Lago & Laranjal

Golf enthusiasts are invited to participate in the 8th Edition of Algarve’s Premier 3-day Amateur Golf Competition, running from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd November 2025. Set against the stunning backdrop of Portugal’s southern coast, this tournament promises world-class golf, unforgettable views, and a vibrant social atmosphere.

Competitors will test their skills across three of the Algarve’s most iconic courses: Monte Rei North, Quinta do Lago North, and Quinta do Lago Laranjal. Each course offers a unique combination of challenging fairways, strategic bunkering, and breathtaking landscapes — perfect for golfers seeking both excitement and a true Algarve experience.

The event kicks off on Wednesday 19th November with a Welcome Reception & Tapas Party, offering the chance to meet fellow participants over a glass of wine or beer. The competitive rounds begin on Thursday 20th at Laranjal, continue on Friday 21st at Monte Rei, and conclude on Saturday 22nd at Quinta do Lago North.

Golfers of all levels can compete for individual Stableford prizes, which include trophies for the overall winner as well as daily gross and net prizes, ensuring that every round is rewarding. The event wraps up with a Prize Giving Dinner at Maloca de Tuttapana, celebrating achievement, camaraderie, and the shared passion for the game.

The International Mid-Amateur of Portugal returns to Troia Golf Championship Course

The International Mid-Amateur of Portugal, organised by the Portuguese Golf Federation, returned to the magnificent Troia Golf Championship Course, one of the standout layouts south of Lisbon and a must-play destination for golfers visiting Portugal.

Known for its quick greens, coastal scenery and demanding designs, Troia once again proves why this region is considered one of the strongest areas for golf in Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula. 

Sweden and Germany Lead the Field 


Sweden’s Hampus Wijkstrom claimed the men’s championship title at The International Mid-Amateur with an impressive final-round 66 (-6), finishing at 213 (-3) to overtake the entire field. In the women’s competition, Germany’s Silvia Wilms dominated from start to finish, securing victory with consistent play across all three rounds. Both golfers showcased top-level performance, making a highlight for competitive golf in Lisbon.

Portugal also marked its presence, with Ricardo Soares finishing as the top national player.

Sweden emerged victorious in the Nations Cup, underscoring the championship’s high level of competition.
