Tee Times Portugal HolidaysFerrari Challenge – Autodrome International Algarve, Portimão – Portugal – 18th – 20th of July 2014

Since the Autodrome International Algarve opened in 2008, this facility on the western Algarve has become a firm favourite of the customers of Tee Times Portugal Holidays.

With a track of nearly 3 miles (4692 metres), involving 17 twists and turns, driving skills will certainly be on display and the competition very entertaining for this, the 4th round of the Ferrari Challenge. The packed schedule of this motor-racing event, including practice runs and qualifying races, offers for those on holiday in Portugal plenty of motor-racing fun in the sun.

The Ferrari Challenge is one of the most popular one-make series, bringing together complete track novices and those with competition experience. To avoid a one-sided contest and assure a good show, both experienced competitors and novice-racers have their own classification and title to compete for.

Along the western Algarve there are many options of excellent accommodation. Among this fine selection, the recommendations of Tee Times Tour Operator for holiday-makers include Tivoli CarvoeiroVila Gale LagosLongevity Wellness Resort Monchique and more.

For those seeking entertainment away from the race-track, the ‘Slide and Splash’ water-slide park, just outside the town of Lagoa, offers fun and excitement for all the family. As this water-slide park offers about 8 slides, several pools and a jacuzzi, the only decision to be made is which one to try first.

A pre-arranged transport-service to this water-slide park is available, with pickup points from many holiday resorts along the Algarve. Tickets for ‘Slide and Splash’ are available from the Vilamoura offices of Tee Times T. O.

For information on directions to both offices please see:

The Algarve, recognised as Europe’s Best Golf Destination of 2014 by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, has many excellent golf courses to choose from. Among this fantastic selection of golf courses along the Algarve, Tee Times Golf Agency recommends Faldo, O’Connor Jr.PalmaresAlamos, Boavista, Gramacho, Morgado and many more.

The Algarve, a region of Portugal very popular as a holiday destination, is also rich in culture and history.

Salir village, only about 9 miles from Loulé, will bring some of this history alive as it steps back in time to the middle of the 13th century for the Festival of Medievel Arts. This festival will be exploring the time of the Reconquista (Reconquest) when, in this area of the Iberia peninsula, the balance of power was changing hands, from Muslims to Christians. This historically interesting and also entertaining event will be offering traditional music, along with period crafts and street entertainment.

For those considering booking holiday accommodation in the Algarve, Tee Times Tour Operator recommends the following Hotel Conrad AlgarveEncosta do LagoMonte Da Quinta Suites and more.

The village of Salir is also famous for its regional cuisine. This includes Xarém (Xerem). This is a traditional Portuguese recipe, which is a stew of clam meat, thickened with yellow maize meal, and finally topped with a mix of bacon, ham and sausage.

Another famous produce of the area is Medronho, which is a brandy. Also known as Aguardente, or Firewater, Medronho is usually about 50% alcohol. This brandy is made from the red berry-fruit of the Arbutus unedo tree (‘Strawberry’ tree), which thrives in the poor Algarvean soil. It is said that, since there is no commercial plantations of Medronho trees in Portugal, the fruit collection and Medronho production is carried out by local farmers.

Golfers can call upon the knowledge, insight and recommendations of Tee Times Golf Agency, when considering the options of the many golf courses along the Algarve. These recommendations include Quinta do Lago South, Pinheiros Altos, San Lorenzo and many more.
