10th Portugal Masters – At Vcitoria Golf Course

Portugal Masters with Two Ryder Cup players, several players participating in recent Ryder Cup editions, former Majors champions and European Tour Tournaments winners all set to play in Oceanico Victoria, Vilamoura.

The stars filled participants list including Ryder Cup players, winners of Grand Slam tournaments and local heroes that will grace the tenth edition of the Portugal Masters in the Algarve.

Thomas Pieters, who beat the rookies’ records in the Ryder Cup and last year’s Portugal Masters champion, Andy Sullivan, were part of the Ryder Cup European team and will be present in Vilamoura, along with former Ryder Cup heroes which, this time, were behind the scenes at the Hazeltine National and return to the Algarve: Thomas Bjørn, Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie.

Sullivan will try to replicate its last year fantastic display when he set a new tournament record, winning by a margin of 9 shots.

His Ryder Cup partner, Pieters, a Belgian is capable of long distances also set up the European team Ryder Cup to add 4 points in 5 duels played soon in his debut. And note that last year he finished 6th at Oceanico Victoria Golf Course.

This double will be joined by the 2014 Portugal Masters champion Alex Levy, who recently won his third European Tour title in the Porsche European Open in Germany.

Other Famous Names on Portugal Masters

On the entry list are the Swedish Alex Noren, who has won two tournaments this year and finished 11th in the prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last week; the “bomber” Spaniard Álvaro Quirós – which retains its affiliation to the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course – and his compatriot Jose Maria Olazabal.

The former double champion of the Masters is one of the greatest ever heroes of the Ryder Cup is a good friend of the Portuguese Ricardo Santos and was away 18 months due to injury but has returned to competition and will also compete in the Algarve.

The most important tournament of Portuguese golf will take place from 20th to 23rd October, with the Pro-Am on the 19th, handing out cash prizes amounting to 2 million euros.
