Society Members Query

Dear members there are some issues that I would like to introduce to you and have your comment:

1. What to do with the anual member fees (25€ each)that weren’t spent?
My suggestion is after deduced all expenses , put it behind the bar at Chez Carlos – Our Club House, as it is almost impossible to do some kind of event where we can get all members here at the same time.

2. Where to go on our anual January trip and when? Suggested Dates 21th to the 25th January in Lisbon, Estoril/Cascais area; play the golf courses around there ( Quinta da Marinha, Oitavos; Penha Longa and one other ).

3. Handicap system – during these years we have had a buffer zone of 32 to 36 points. I suggest a buffer zone of 35 / 36 points, to offer a chance to the players witch scores are around 30pt, to receive more shots and improve theyr chances.

4. Social / Competition with members of Boavista Golf Club. It seems that the best is 14/11. I would like to confirm and that members who wish to participate, please confirm in advance for the Boavista members can also organize themselves.

Castro Marim – Weekly Competition

On a beautiful October sunny day, with hardly any wind, the Golf Society played on the East side of the Algarve – Castro Marim Golf Course.
We all took advantage of the excellent offer on the buggies, as the course is quite Hilly/rough/bumpy, so it was just handy.
The Castro Marim course has 27 holes and we played the new 9 holes – the Grouse route – and the old backnine, now called – Atlantic route – wich ends with a good par 5, where the players can be seen from the clubhouse balcony.
Will remain for history the 1st and 2nd places, both with 33 points, Carlos Ferreira and guest Linda Dixon.
Back to the clubhouse, we welcomed our new member Jim Drover, who decided to subscribe the Society membership on that day. Jim is a long time friend of Sinclair Armet and very familiar with all of us at Chez Carlos Golf Society.
Next week we will be playing Vale da Pinta golf course, with a fantastic offer for our members and guests.

Irish Joke of the Day

A large woman, wearing a sleeveless sun dress, walked into a Bar in Dublin. She raised her right arm, revealing a huge, hairy armpit, as she pointed to all the people sitting at the bar and asked, ‘What man here will buy a lady a drink?’
The bar went silent as the patrons tried to ignore her. But down at the end of the bar, an owl-eyed drunk slammed his hand down on the counter and bellowed ‘ Give the ballerina a drink!’
The bartender poured the drink and the woman chugged it down. She turned to the patrons and again pointed around at all of them, revealing the same hairy armpit, and asked, ‘What man here will buy a lady a drink?’
Once again, the same little drunk slapped his money down on the bar and said, ‘Give the ballerina another drink!’
The bartender approached the little drunk and said ‘Tell me, Paddy, it’s your business if you want to buy the lady a drink, but why do you keep calling her a ballerina?’
The drunk replied, ‘Any woman who can lift her leg that high has got to be a ballerina!’
