Salgado and Constantino Claim National Pairs Championship Victory at Montado

The strength and competitive spirit of Portugal golf were evident last weekend at the Montado Hotel & Golf Resort, which hosted the Campeonato Nacional de Pares & Pares Seniores. The tournament brought together a strong field of amateur players for two demanding rounds that tested teamwork, precision and consistency.

After two solid performances, Francisca Salgado, representing Vale de Janelas Golf Course, and Rodrigo Constantino from Belas Clube de Campo secured the overall title with a total score of 145 (+1).

The competition began with an 18 hole Better Ball round. Salgado and Constantino set the early pace with a score of 71 (-1), sharing the lead with defending champions Ricardo Soares and José Patacão, as well as João Setúbal and Tiago Abrantes. Close behind, eight teams were tied at even par, reflecting the tight battle at the top of the leaderboard.

The second round was played in the challenging Foursomes format, where teammates alternate shots throughout the round. In this decisive stage, the young mixed pair delivered the best score of the day, returning 74 (+2) to move ahead of the field and secure the championship.

Filipe Pinheiro and Luís Filipe Pinheiro finished as runners up with a total of 148 (72–76), while Miguel Lourenço and Sérgio Pereira completed the podium in third place overall with 149 (72–77).

Lourenço and Pereira, representing ACP Golfe and Aroeira Golf Resort respectively, also captured the Senior Pairs title, finishing three strokes ahead of Luís Martins and Bruno Guerreiro.

Tournaments like this continue to play an important role in the development and visibility of Portugal golf, showcasing the depth of talent across the country’s amateur competitive scene.
