Tee Times Algarve Golf – Algarve Masters Pro-Am Ready to Start on 13th September 2015

The “Algarve Masters Pro-Am 2015,” a golf tournament in a Stableford Net format, kicks off on 13 September at the Onyria Palmares golf course in Lagos. This tournament sponsored by the Algarve Tourist Board (RTA) and organized the PGA of Portugal, will bring together 80 players, among them the journalist Júlio Magalhães, the presenter Jorge Gabriel and former goal-keeper of Sporting Clube and National football team: Ricardo Pereira.

The team with the highest ranking in this competition will be able to play in the “Pro-Am” of the Portugal Masters, one of the most important events on the European Tour, which will take place on 8th October at the Oceânico Victoria Course in Vilamoura.

The tournament will start on “shot-gun” at 09:00 and will be organized with rating teams of four each, formed by a PGA professional and three amateurs guests. They are registered 20 teams from across the country and also two Spanish teams. Already confirmed for the tournament are James Cross, national defending champion, Ricardo Melo Gouveia, current No. 1 of the European Challenge Tour circuit, and well-known public figures of the Portuguese.

The three teams that go up to the podium receive trophies Vista Alegre/Atlantis, while participants who win the ball closer to the General Amateur flag, the “drive” longer (category men) and “drive” longer (women category) will be awarded dishes of famous pottery of Porches. “The mild climate that allows prolong the golf season for several months, along with the stunning scenery in which the fields are inserted, have brought to the Algarve increasingly practitioners of the sport year after year. In addition, the quality of the golf courses in the region is recognized worldwide. Fruit of this recognition were the awards – seven national and five environmental certifications – the Algarve received in 2014, making it the main Portugal golf destination, “notes Desiderio Silva, president of the Algarve Tourism Board.

Vilamoura Wins National Championship Solverde Clubs

Vilamoura champion of men’s, Miramar wins women’s National Solverde Club Championship.

Last 6th September 2015 at the Reguengo Morgado Golf Course in Portimão, the Algarve’s Vilamoura team led by Coach António Sequeira equaled the Record of 16 National Golf Champions titles of the Club of Estoril.

The Vilamoura Golf Club won the fourth consecutive year the men’s tournament of the National Solverde Club Championship, the third time in its history concluding a fourth championship.

In the final of Pereira Machado Viscount Cup (men’s tournament), last played at the Reguengo Morgado Golf Course in Portimão, the team coached by professional Joaquim Sequeira defeated the Oporto Golf Club by 5.5 to 1.5.

It was exactly the same result that had beaten this team coached by Eduardo Maganinho in 2013 and also the same score of the victory in the final of last year on the Club de Golf de Miramar.

And speaking of Miramar, the Vila Nova de Gaia club retained the title Nini Guedes de Queiroz Cup, beating in the final the Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club 4-1 in a reissue of last year’s final, also with the same result when Miramar took possession of the first women’s title in their history.

The 52nd edition of the National Championship Solverde Clubs, organized by the Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG), assumes historic because it was the 16th men’s title Vilamoura, equaling the national record of Club de Golf Estoril.

The final ranking of the 52 National Championship of Clubs Solverde was ordered as follows:

Pereira Machado Viscount Cup: 1 Vilamoura, Oporto 2nd, 3rd Miramar, 4th Lisbon, 5th of Peru Thursday, 6 Estoril, 7 Fine, Estela 8, 9 Eighth, 10th Vilamoura-B, 11th Morgado do Reguengo, 12th Verdegolf.

Cup Nini Guedes Queiroz: 1 Miramar, 2nd Quinta do Peru, 3rd Oporto.
