Ana Peláez Shines Again at the Spanish Women’s Professional Championship

Ana Peláez has done it again; another strong, confident win that puts her at the top of Spanish Women’s Professional Championship. Playing at the heathland course at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, right in the Costa del Sol, she defended her title with style and closed the championship at six under par. Her final round of 71 may look calm on paper, but it came with pressure, momentum swings, and the kind of focus that shows why she is one of the rising names in Spain golf.

The day didn’t start perfectly. Two early bogeys opened the door for María Parra, who was on fire with five under the front nine, including two eagles. But Peláez stayed patient. On the back nine, she showed the control of a true champion: a key birdie on 14, followed by three more on 15, 17 and 18. In the end, she won by seven strokes—an incredible margin at this level.

Her victory is another highlight for the Costa del Sol, one of the best regions for golf in Europe. With world-class courses, sunny weather and year-round playability, it’s no surprise that so many players choose this area for their Spain golf holidays. The region continues to host important tournaments like this one, showing why it’s known as the “Costa del Golf.”

Behind Peláez, María Parra finished second with a strong performance, while María Villanueva and Marta Martín completed the top positions. Amanda Revuelta also stood out as the best amateur of the week.

For golf fans planning their next Spain golf holidays, events like this show the level of talent and excitement happening in the country. And with the Costa del Sol preparing for more top events, it’s the perfect time to enjoy outstanding golf, great weather, and unforgettable moments on and off the course.

Rolex Grand Final 2025 at Club de Golf Alcanada

One of the biggest events on Mallorca’s golfing calendar is almost here: the Rolex Grand Final 2025, taking place at Club de Golf Alcanada from October 30 to November 2.

This will be the fifth time Alcanada hosts the prestigious season-ending event, the climax of the Road to Mallorca, where the top 45 players from the year’s rankings will compete for DP World Tour cards and championship glory.

Known for its spectacular views of the Mediterranean and its challenging layout, Alcanada is already deep into course preparations to ensure it meets the highest professional standards. The club aims to present a layout that is both demanding and beautifully maintained, showcasing the very best of Mallorca’s golf culture.

Grounds crews are focusing on every detail to make sure the course is in top shape for the world’s best players. Their maintenance plan includes:

  • Firm, fast greens ready for championship conditions

  • Uniform rough with three distinct cutting heights (30 mm, 64 mm, and 90 mm)

  • Perfectly level tees and refreshed bunkers with renewed sand

  • Improved visibility around key holes through selective pruning and landscaping

The process has already begun, as achieving the ideal rough height and turf consistency takes several weeks of careful preparation. Players and visitors are being asked to help maintain course quality by keeping buggies off the fairways wherever possible.

Regular maintenance, including topdressing and moisture control, is being carried out on tees and greens to guarantee optimal firmness and playability when the tournament begins.

As the countdown continues, the excitement around the island is growing. With world-class golf, scenic views, and a course known for precision and challenge, the Rolex Grand Final 2025 promises another unforgettable week in Mallorca.

Golf fans interested in experiencing the atmosphere firsthand can plan their stay through our Mallorca Golf Courses page and enjoy championship golf on one of Spain’s most stunning islands.

LIV Golf Valderrama 2025

The spotlight is once again on Real Club Valderrama, where LIV Golf Andalucía 2025 is gearing up for another thrilling edition. Set against the striking backdrop of Sotogrande’s cork oak-lined fairways, this tournament isn’t just another date on the calendar, it’s a cornerstone event that merges world-class golf with cultural prestige, economic growth, and bold sporting ambition.

Now in its third year hosting the tour, Valderrama has become synonymous with LIV’s European ambitions. The course is playing a leading role in rebranding Spain as a golf powerhouse, not only for its elite-level play but also for the way it attracts younger, more diverse audiences to the sport. With thousands of spectators, a global television audience, and growing momentum from past successes, the 2025 event is poised to outdo itself once again.

Behind the scenes, Valderrama’s leadership is in advanced talks to renew its contract with LIV, potentially securing its place at the heart of continental golf for years to come.

Valderrama’s Gamble Pays Off

In an exclusive interview with OpenGolf, club CEO Javier Reviriego reflected on the journey: “There were many uncertainties at the beginning, we didn’t know which players would join LIV, or how the format would be received. But today, we’re proud of the decision. Seeing this calibre of players at Valderrama is a luxury, not just for us, but for Spanish golf.”

From its first appearance on the LIV calendar, Valderrama embraced the unconventional format and global ambition of the tour. That calculated risk has paid dividends, both in terms of visibility and local impact. “The evolution of LIV is very solid,” added Reviriego. “They continue to grow, attract talent, and engage new audiences.”

Attracting New Audiences to Golf

One of LIV’s biggest successes, according to Reviriego, is its ability to reach beyond traditional golf fans. “They’re bringing in people who’ve never been to a golf event. Younger crowds. People curious about the sport. The format is dynamic, and that makes it more accessible.”

This broader appeal aligns perfectly with Spain’s efforts to position golf as a lifestyle sport, not just for elite players, but for casual fans, families, and tourists exploring the region.

A Boost for the Campo de Gibraltar

The economic ripple effect of LIV Golf Andalucía is already being felt across the Campo de Gibraltar. Local hotels report near-full occupancy. Over 1,000 staff have been employed for the week-long event. Local suppliers, transport companies, restaurants, and hospitality businesses are benefiting from the influx of visitors and media.

“It’s a huge week for the region,” Reviriego confirmed. “We’ve made sure many of the providers are local. The economic return is evident, and it’s something we don’t take for granted. LIV is the only event of its kind on the European mainland, and it’s happening here.”

Looking Ahead: Renewal Talks in Progress

The current agreement between Valderrama and LIV Golf runs through two more editions, but discussions for renewal are already in progress. While Reviriego remained cautious about specifics, he confirmed that meetings are taking place during tournament week. “We’re calm. We’re already speaking with LIV. We want to keep this going.”

This continuity would be a strategic win for both parties, maintaining Spain’s place on the LIV calendar while giving the tour a reliable, historic venue in continental Europe.

Beyond the Tournament: The Valderrama Foundation

While Valderrama thrives on the international stage, the club is also investing in its local community. The newly formed Valderrama Foundation aims to support young people in the Campo de Gibraltar through golf and education.

“We’ve always received strong support from the community,” said Reviriego. “This is our way of giving back, helping students, supporting young golfers, and offering opportunities in a region that deserves it.”

Spain’s Golf Future Shines Through Valderrama

With the LIV Golf spotlight shining brightly and Valderrama leading the charge, Spain’s position in global golf has never looked stronger. From fan engagement and player access to community outreach and economic impact, this event embodies the modern evolution of Spanish golf.

And if renewal talks succeed, Valderrama’s role in this story is just beginning.
