The Real Club Valderrama is extraordinary compared to other realized golf clubs in Europe. It is situated in the resort of Sotogrande, San Roque in the Andalusia area of southern Spain, a couple of miles from Gibraltar.
Tee Times Golf Agency had the delight to play the Real Club Valderrama and after numerous years venturing to the far corners of the planet with the incredible fortune to play golf we found that Valderrama is basically one of the absolute best golf course we have ever had the chance to play!
From the moment you park your car, go through the reception, locker room, driving range, praticing facilities, the golf course and finish in the restaurant for a well deserved refreshment or a meal the service is 5 stars.
Top-notch facilities starting at the pratice area through to the golf course.
And afterward the colossal golf course itself which on the front nine breezes its route delicately through the cork trees over the sublimely structured parkland style holes, and the back nine which can thoroughly devastate the consequences of a decent front nine through its extremely intense – yet reasonable – format with a lot of scoring openings tempered by the ever present information that one mis-hit shot can see you effectively lose ground on your opponents.
A superior format as far as structure, area, quality and the general pleasant nature of a golf course you will be unable to discover anyplace on the planet!
It is uncommon to fall off a golf course with such a sentiment of satisfaction and a genuine encounter when your back nine play has been in complete complexity to a very much played front nine, yet Real Club Valderrama is that course. We can possibly envision how great you would feel in the event that you can assemble a strong back nine toward the finish of your round, or far superior an entire 18 holes of good quality golf more than one of the world's really incredible greens – or better still to win in the Ryder Cup here!
The course was structured in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, one of the extraordinary fairway designers, and was initially known as Las Aves (Sotogrande New). In 1985, Mr. Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, aquired the golf course and focused on carrying the course to an uncommon level, never found in Europe. Robert Trent Jones eagerly consented to return and overhaul his unique design of ten years sooner. Together the two men spent numerous hours strolling around the course and talking about where and how upgrades ought to be made.
The course was renamed Valderrama, after the old domain on which the land is arranged. The pair shared a typical point: to make a course that would introduce a trial of golf to the regular golf player and the top of the line player the same, and would draw out the best golf that is in him. Valderrama has since ascended in the Golf World rankings to turn into the No.1 fairway in territory Europe, a position gladly held since 1989.
By 1999, Real Club Valderrama was appraised the top course in territory Europe by Golf World magazine.
The fourth hole, La Cascada, is the course's signature hole. It is a Par 5 with a lake to one side of the two-layered green. The training ground was known as the best in Europe by Nick Faldo.
Valderrama is a 6356 metres par 71 with no hole of less than championship quality but it can be fully enjoyed by players of all handicaps, thanks to the genius of Robert Trent Jones, Senior, whom many consider the leading golf architect of his day. Valderrama Golf course is one of the leading golf coures in Europe and the venue of some of the most important golf competitions in Europe. In 1997 it hosted the Ryders Cup, and this definitely made this world class course one of the most requested for tee times in Europe.

What can you say besides that this course is amazing. It is not allowed for guests to enter the area unless you are a member or have a time to play golf. Upon arrival at the first checkpoint for the facility, one's starting time was checked and you were shown to the guest parking. Here an employee came and picked up your bag, which was brought to the caddy master. Inside the reception you were welcomed in a friendly and pleasant tone. I was handed my course guide and was told, that I could present my self to the caddy master and everything would be done to me before my round. I could use the driving range 45 min. before I had to go out on the first hole. I played the course right after a tournament, which meant that the rough was deeper and pin placement was harder. The only reason Valderrama does not get the top point is that their own etiquette with clothing was not respected and the pace of the course. Our 4-ball was significantly faster than those in front, but we were not let through, which meant a long queue behind us. Cellphones were also used on course even though it was prohibited.
