The San Roque Club, Andalusia, Spain is generally perceived as one of the top golf courses in Europe and can be found on each golf player bucket list when visiting Southern Spain, particularly as it offers two extremely differentiating experiences at one setting. The San Roque Club is revamping all parts of the club however specifically the well famous Old Course. This remodel will reaffirm its position among Europe's top golf courses.
The San Roque Club is almost unmatched for scenery and elegance. Home of the European Tour Qualifying School Finals from 1993 - 2007 as well as hosts of the Spanish Open (2005 & 2006).
The San Roque Club offers 2 golf courses which are as fun to play as they are beautiful, within a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Designed by the legendary Dave Thomas, The Old Course is rated amongst the finest golf courses in Europe and always within the top 5 in Spain. The New Course - 6626 m - complements The Old Course while presenting a very different challenge. The designs, by the renowned American golf course designer Perry With its length of 6494m it features beautiful cork oak woods on the front 9 and stunning water hazards on the back 9 holes. This championship golf course is fun to play. The Old Course incorporates the contours of the San Roque hills, giving golfers wonderful views to the Guadalquiton River and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. Away from the greens, The San Roque Golf Club also offers an authentic Japanese Restaurant, Bar Jerez for all-day snacks and drinks, excellent practice facilities and Golf Academy as well as Club Membership.
The Old course closed at the end of 2019 to allow for the complete renovation of the layout and it will open at the end of 2020. Construction work was then carried out the following year by Atlantic Golf and Southwest Greens, with the Better Billy Bunker system installed in all the sand hazards. Tees and greens were rebuilt with bentgrass, Bermuda grass was used on the fairways, and the two nines were reversed.
Enjoyed the golf, friendly helpful staff. Course rangers active and helped us when we got stuck behind slow players

A fabulous course. Excellent condition and a real challenge. Impressive clubhouse and facilities. Highly recommended.
There were expectations in the air during my visit to San Roque Golf Club, where I played Old Course. They hosted the Spanish championship in 2005. There was good parking and the front desk was friendly, welcoming and spoke several languages. After the check in, they referred me to the Club Master, who quickly found a club car for me, made sure I got some water bottles, dried the seats off after a slight rain shower and showed the way to the driving range where I hit a some balls. He was constantly aware that I was alone on the course and therefore made sure I came out in front of a 4 and 3 ball. A beautiful course with som blind shots on a narrow fairway. Did the round in 86 and made 40 stableford points. The only downside of the visit was the tee areas, the players lack of etiquette on greens (straight ball marks up) and the restaurant. For 18 € you will expect more than a slick wraps with some gray salmon.
Course, greens and service very good
