Club de Golfe Vilamoura Junior Training

The Clube de Golf Vilamoura has launched a new phase of its programme to attract young players to the sport. This week, eleven children took part in their first golf session, marking the start of a new generation of talent for the club.

The beginner group will train every Saturday morning under the guidance of professional coaches António Rosado and Micael Viegas. Each session lasts one hour and is completely free until the end of the year. From January onwards, those who wish to continue can become full members of the club through a symbolic annual fee, joining the official junior golf schools.

The Clube de Golf Vilamoura currently has around 150 young players enrolled across six levels, supported by six additional instructors: Joaquim Sequeira, Ricardo Lopes, Alexandre Cruz, Ricardo Santos, Hugo Santos, and Francisco Mendes. Lessons are held across the Pinhal, Laguna, and Millennium golf courses, providing young players with diverse and professional training environments.

PGA Tour Champions Portugal 2026

The PGA Tour Champions Portugal 2026 will be played at The Els Club Vilamoura from 31 July to 2 August 2026, bringing senior golf’s biggest names to the Algarve for a landmark week. It is set to be Portugal’s first PGA TOUR-sanctioned individual stroke-play event, a statement moment for the country’s golf calendar and for Vilamoura’s status as a tournament host. The timing sits neatly in the peak summer window, ideal for fans who want to pair championship viewing with their own rounds. For golfers planning ahead, this is the kind of event that turns a great Algarve trip into a memorable one, make sure you check out our Golf holiday offers in the Algarve to create an outstanding experience around this event.

Across three tournament days, a 78-player field drawn from PGA Tour Champions and the European over-50s ranks will compete for a $3 million purse. Expect a compact, television-friendly schedule and a course set-up designed to reward precision over brute force. With the event positioned during the European summer swing, travelling fans can plan a single itinerary that blends elite competition, warm weather, and reliable tee time access across the region.

Vilamoura is built for weeks like this. The tournament venue, formerly the Victoria Course, hosted the Portugal Masters from 2007 to 2022 and has since been refreshed under Ernie Els. The layout offers width off the tee, strategic bunkering, and risk-reward holes that make for compelling senior golf. Off the course, Faro Airport is roughly a 25-minute drive, the marina concentrates restaurants and nightlife, and nearby courses mean spectators can play in the morning and watch the leaders come home in the afternoon. In short, the infrastructure and the golf are already in place for a first-class championship experience.

Michelin-Starred Dinners at Vilamoura’s Old Course Clubhouse

This summer, Vilamoura will serve up more than just elite golf. From 16 August to 13 September 2025, the Old Course Clubhouse will host a five-week series of Michelin-starred chef dinners, combining culinary excellence with one of the Algarve’s most iconic golf destinations.

Every Saturday evening between 20:00 and 22:00, a different Michelin-starred chef will take over the Clubhouse kitchen, offering guests a five-course tasting menu built around the theme Portugalidade à mesa, a celebration of Portugal’s regional flavours and culinary identity. Each dining experience is priced at €150 per person and takes place inside the Clubhouse’s recently renovated space, styled after traditional British golf pubs.

The series opens on 16 August with Rodrigo Castelo (Ó Balcão, Santarém), who’ll reinterpret classic Ribatejo flavours. On 23 August, Louis Anjos (Al Sud, Lagos) brings a refined Algarvian touch to the table. The chef for 30 August remains a surprise, with the name set to be announced via the Clubhouse’s social media channels.

Rounding out the event are two acclaimed Lisbon-area chefs: Alexandre Silva (Loco) on 6 September, known for his experimental flair, and Gil Fernandes (Fortaleza do Guincho) on 13 September, who specialises in local seafood and coastal cuisine.

For golf travellers, this is a rare chance to enjoy a round at the historic Old Course followed by a Michelin-level meal, all without leaving the resort. With demand expected to be high, early booking is advised.
