The International Mid-Amateur of Portugal, organised by the Portuguese Golf Federation, returned to the magnificent Troia Golf Championship Course, one of the standout layouts south of Lisbon and a must-play destination for golfers visiting Portugal.
Known for its quick greens, coastal scenery and demanding designs, Troia once again proves why this region is considered one of the strongest areas for golf in Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula.
Sweden and Germany Lead the Field
Sweden’s Hampus Wijkstrom claimed the men’s championship title at The International Mid-Amateur with an impressive final-round 66 (-6), finishing at 213 (-3) to overtake the entire field. In the women’s competition, Germany’s Silvia Wilms dominated from start to finish, securing victory with consistent play across all three rounds. Both golfers showcased top-level performance, making a highlight for competitive golf in Lisbon.
Portugal also marked its presence, with Ricardo Soares finishing as the top national player.
A Prime Stage for Golf South of Lisbon
Sweden emerged victorious in the Nations Cup, underscoring the championship’s high level of competition. The tournament once again highlights the quality of Troia Golf and the growing appeal of golf in the south of Lisbon, an area that includes top courses such as Troia, Quinta do Peru, Aroeira I & II, and Montado—making it one of Portugal’s most exciting golf regions.
