Portugal Senior Golf at Quinta do Vale

The 7th and penultimate tournament of the National Order of Merit, organised by the Associação Nacional de Seniores de Golfe de Portugal (ANSGP), was played today at Quinta do Vale Golf Course in Castro Marim. The event gathered around 70 players from across the country, with delegations from the north and centre of Portugal standing out. Conditions were bright and sunny, though strong winds persisted throughout the day.

The course, designed by Severiano Ballesteros, was presented in excellent condition and provided a demanding test for competitors.

In the Seniors Net category, António Mimoso secured victory with 37 points, followed by Marcel Nico with 35. The Gross winner was James Thomson with 30 points, ahead of Paulo Azevedo on 22.

Among the Super Seniors, Vítor Saramago topped the Net leaderboard with 40 points, with João Poeira Oliveira second on 36. Steve Juster claimed the Gross title with 28 points.

The Master Seniors division (75 years and older) saw Aníbal Ponte win Net with 36 points, followed by Luís Gama with 32. Gunnar Vikstrom took Gross honours with 23 points.

In the Women’s competition, Elvira Gama won the Net with 38 points, ahead of Maria José Pinto with 34. Pinto went on to win the Gross category with 22 points, followed by Ann de Jongh with 20.
