José María Buendía Wins III Open Sénior Comunitat Valenciana at Mediterráneo Golf

Golf in Spain continues to showcase strong competition across all levels, and the III Open Sénior Comunitat Valenciana offered a clear example of the quality present in the senior game. The tournament took place at Mediterráneo Golf, bringing together 55 players for a challenging 18 hole Stroke Play competition.

Despite difficult weather conditions, participants from the regional Senior Circuit demonstrated impressive form and determination throughout the round. The highlight of the day came from José María Buendía Fernández, who delivered an outstanding performance to secure victory. His round of 70 strokes not only earned him the overall title but also the top position in the professional classification.

Emilio Rodríguez Pareja finished as runner up in the professional category after completing his round with 76 strokes.

In the Senior Scratch category, John Dowling produced a strong performance with a score of 72, claiming first place. Alfredo Cortina Sanchis followed closely with 75 strokes to secure second position.

The Super Senior Scratch division proved particularly competitive. Juan Pintor Puerta, president of the Federación de Golf de la Comunitat Valenciana, claimed victory with a score of 79, narrowly edging Jesús Fuente Morillo who matched the same total but finished second.

In the handicap categories, Rafael Serrano Beneyto took first place in the Senior division with 73 strokes, while Allyn Melvin Davies won the Super Senior handicap category after returning a score of 78.

Events like the III Open Sénior Comunitat Valenciana highlight the depth and enthusiasm that continue to define golf in Spain, where experienced players remain an important part of the country’s vibrant golf community.
