This a a good course with lots of elevation changes and elevated tees meaning some of the holes look spectacular from the tee. The tee boxes and fairways were in good condition but some of the greens had bare patches that had been sanded. At least the pin positions were placed away from these patches to make putting possible. The new clubhouse is a vast improvement on the old one and a great addition to the course.

Silves was a lovely course, but the service was well below the expected standards. Our tee time was delayed, not a major problem, but we had 3 tee times booked together and 6 buggies, but the club could only provide 3 buggies on time. The other 3 we had to wait nearly 30mins, and 2 other groups were put out between us as a result. Also we were held up at every single hole! The pace of play from a couple of groups ahead was very poor, no Marshall to speed them up or allow groups pass. Our leading group left after 16th hole, our last group left after playing 14. Very poorly organised club based on our experience.

Experience not helped by on course marshal unnecessarily hassling us to hurry up - just resulted in us having to queue behind other groups a few holes later. We found he had been doing the same with others, not very helpful. Also typical for Pestana courses was someone trying to sell us raffle competition entries on course. This is not what we are there for.

We arrived 40min. before tee time. At the proshop it was relaxed. As we grabbed our buggy the lady pushed us and we were 15min. before on the tee and started. From the 2. tee we waited on EVERY tee, sometimes with 2 more flights. The pace was awful. The teeboxes ok, fairways ok, greens sometimes realy bad. We found no flow, standing also on the fairways. The putting green has nothing to do with the real greens (execpt that there is a hole in the same size). Driving range is one artifical tee with a net. The clubhouse is closing the kittchen at 5pm. The course is to much overbooked. We play a lot of golf, but that was our worst round since a long time. For us (HCP 18 and 20) clearly not the money worth.

Je nach Windrichtung, können die Dampfschwaden der alten Kork-Fabrik schon mal stören. English version - Beautifully situated and well-built into the lagoon landscape. It offers, in the truest sense, many highlights and variety. The condition is good. But you have to bring time, because the place is always well attended. Recommendation: Try to get a starting time early. The green fee fits. Good value for money. Depending on the wind direction, the steam from the old cork factory can be a nuisance.

Nice course, good to walk with interesting holes. With a wind of 7-8 Bft. it was not so easy to play, but we managed it. The condition of the fairways were really bad, the greens were ok. For 89.-€ its much overpriced and taking 45.-€ for a naked buggy without GPS, water oder fruits is really robbery. No Marshall to avoid slow play fits in the plan of Pestana Golf to make as much money, as they can. It seems as if they are not interested in their customers. We won´t come back.

We were one of the last groups to play in the day and play was slow it need marshalling as high handicap golfers were waiting far too long to take shots they would not be able to make. The greens were quick and receptive and it was a good test for a shortish but tight golf course.

We didn‘t have the best experience, pace was too slow, 4 hours 35 minutes for 18 holes is too much. No marshal, a flight of 3 in front of us with 1 (!) golf bag only. The course especially the greens were in a bad shape.
Tee Times reply: Dear Mr Frank, Thanks for your feedback. In high season a round of golf takes between 4 hours to 4: 45. 3 Players and 1 golf bag are not permitted on the golf courses, and we should report that to the Adm.

Your staff are very friendly and efficient. However some of the teeboxes need attention and many of the greens are infested with small mushrooms and patchy grass e.g. the Index 1 7th. If the greenkeeper in my local club here in Dublin presented the greens in this manner he would be in danger of being sacked. You are running the Pestana Golf Festival at the end of this month and I would anticipate that you will get many complaints because of the state of the greens. We love playing the Pestana courses but you will need to improve the quality of the greens to get back to the way they were.

Silves is a nice course, offering an enjoyable round to all golfing levels. Overall good condition early May 2021: Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and surroundings. Greens a bit slow due to the Poa annua in blossom at this time of the year. Need some attention (sanding, rolling) to smooth the green surface to get a truer roll. A decent putting green would be nice, as well as a chipping area. Nice club house. Efficient staff. Buggies are new and clean. It’s value for money.

The day was a pleasure from start to finish. As organizer of a small group, I met with the caddymaster and this fellow was exceptional to deal with. He should be giving lessons to others in dealing with the public. The course was in very good condition and little player pressure on the course so it made for a relaxing and very enjoyable round. The course itself is a treat to play with a good mix of holes and picturesque views. There are scoring opportunities on a couple shorter holes that can also bite if misplayed. I wouldn't hesitate to play here any time.

Silvis is a beautifull course, nice lay-out, perfect greens. The big nuisance is the Cork factory, especially when the wind is blowing in the direction of the course. It spoiled yesterday partly our fun of playing Silvis.

Course in excellent condition with good fast greens. Some really good risk and reward holes, a number of longish par 3s but fairways reasonably forgiving to make it good holiday golf. Silves is my favourite course of the three Pestana courses in the area. The others are Gramacho and Vale da Pinta, but while good they seem more manufactured and less natural than Silves. While there is nothing smart about the clubhouse, the staff are very friendly and it feels like a members club you'd find in some of the old Scottish clubs.

Can't think of any downside except that en route as we neared the club, signage for the course took us off on to a dirt track for a long stretch which seemed superfluous. We skipped that on our return.

Der Par-70 Platz bietet abwechselungsreiche Löcher. Die Drivelänge ist für einen guten Score nicht so entscheidend. Vielmehr bilden die modulierten Grüns eine Herausforderung. Die Grüns waren nicht makellos, wie wir es von den Dom-Pedro-Plätzen gewohnt waren. Der Platz ist von Golfern stark frequentiert. Die meisten sind mit Golfbuggies unterwegs. Es gibt einige Steigungen zu den einzelnen Löchern zu überwinden, so dass man gut zu Fuß sein sollte. Nachteilig ist, dass es hier keine Drivingranch gibt. Rund um den Platz entstehen Wohnungen. Für den Golfer wäre es angebracht, das Clubhouse zu modernisieren und eine ansprechende Duschgelegenheit zu schaffen. Das preisgünstige Greenfee von 46 € (bis 31.01) entschädigt ein wenig. Alles in allem lohnt es sich, diesen Platz (wenigstens) einmal zu spielen.

The only fault we found at Silves was, on day one our buggy broke down, It was however replaced quite quickly, day two on arrival we were told that there were no buggies at all, this later changed to one buggy being available and after considerable consultation a second buggy did become available. I have had heart surgery and a knee replacement and do require a buggy, can I suggest that when Booking Buggies should be part of the overall contract [ if required].
