Boavista golf course opened in January 2002 is located between the coastal resorts of Lagos and Praia da Luz in Algarve . Not a very long golf course, but very hilly and therefore a buggy is recommended. The greens are pretty tricky as they are not flat. You will find wide fairways and Boavista golf course is a very generous forgiving golf course. There are very challenging Par 3's. Boavista golf course would suit players of all standards and is a fairly friendly golf course for ladies enabling them to enjoy a shorter distance of 533mt. A nice golf course with great views and scenery, of Algarve coast and inland,the Atlantic Ocean is visible from most holes.(...) Rating 7/10

Palmares golf course, redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, is one the most spectacular golf courses in the Algarve , with views to die for, over the bay of Meia Praia, in Lagos ! A player will find a mixture of Parkland and Links all designed to require greater skill to any class of player. The greens on Palmares golf course are large and very sloping and players have to face a few blind shots to them. Some people consider Palmares golf course to be designed for buggies, not for golfers who like to walk the golf course and appreciate it, but please take the time to appreciate the colourful local flora on your way and don't loose concentration for the critical shots.(...) Penina Championship is a Sir Henry Cotton design, located just inland from the coastal resort of Alvor. A very challenging course which is very flat, narrow and long. You will find very good greens which are very well protected with bunkers. There are trees and high rough, you will need to play straight or you could easily go out. There is a long Par 4 to start which is slightly challenging and has a dog leg left. Penina would suit players of all standards and is a fairly friendly course for ladies enabling them to enjoy a shorter distance with 676m between the red and yellow tees. A great golf course with one of the Par 3’s, hole 13 the most memorable and voted one of the best 500 holes in the world!(...) Rating 7/10

Morgado golf course,home of the new Portuguese Open Championship, part of the Europeen Tour is a stunning par 73 golf course located on the foots of Algarve Monchique mountains,just a short drive from the seaside town of Portimão and the fishing village of Alvor. When you play at Morgado golf course be prepared to experience two different nine holes – one slightly flatter and the other undulating, displaying impressive views across the Monchique mountains. Morgado golf course is a walkable course, if you've got the stamina, but when the weather warms up you'll want to enjoy the comfort of a buggy, in fact, accesses to the fairways are extremely well displayed. The back 9 is slightly more challenging because of the aforementioned undulating features but also because the valley is mountain-sided, creating a kind of funnel for the wind to blow through.Morgado golf course is not a long golf course, however, all the Par 3 are quite long ones, especially on the front 9 where you will find 2 golf holes with nearly 200 meters each. To compensate, the Par 4 are relatively short golf holes allowing an average golfer to hit the green in regulation. Strategically, we advise you to build a good result on the front 9 and use it as a warm up for your back nine. The 18th at Morgado golf course is a superb finishing hole, with an elevated tee looking down at the beautiful view of the wavy fairway, sheltered by bunkers, and Clubhouse in the distance. A true signature hole and a great way to end your golf round. By par or by birdie, you are sure to want to come back! A round on this championship course is also a great chance to appreciate the surrounding nature of that side of the Algarve . (...) Rating 7/10

Golf St Antonio, ex Parque da Floresta use to takes its name due its location in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Western Algarve .The new owners decided to give the golf course a new name . The course is extremely hilly therefore a buggy is recommended. It is not too long and you will find good greens which are very generous. The start of the course is with a good Par 4. Parque da Floresta would suit players of all handicaps and is a fairly friendly course for ladies enabling them to enjoy a shorter distance with 659m between the red and yellow tees. A nice golf course where the varying holes run along valleys, past eucalyptus, covered ravines and set amongst olive, palm and pine trees. You will find amazing views said to be one of Europe’s most picturesque.(...) Rating 8/10

Gramacho golf is a par 72 course, located near Carvoeiro, western Algarve . Ronald Fream designed a course with 18 greens and tee boxes and 9 fairways. Later, Nick Price added the other 9 fairways and refurbished the existing so one interesting feature on this course is that many of its holes have 2 greens. Gramacho is a short course, with undulating greens and fairways. In fact, it is quite a hilly course, often with steep terrain, making it a walking challenge for the less fit. The front nine starts with a picturesque 1st hole where you'll need to lay up short of the central rock and tree outcrop, to leave a flighted short iron second. An uphill, downhill exercise takes you to the 6th hole, a par 5 with a tree in the centre of the fairway. Hole 10 is the course's most beautiful hole where uneven terrain and a lake condition your shots. Hole 12 is a true par 5 with a dogleg right that requires two good shots so that your third one has some visibility onto the green. The 16th hole is the course's stroke 1, a tricky par 4, narrow, with many hazards for you to contend with. Hole 18 is a par 5 with a hard tee shot onto an uphill fairway surrounded by obstacles such as trees, rocks and 3 deep bunkers protecting the green. Gramacho is a nice course, with beautiful algarvean countryside but just a bit demanding on the legwork. Nevertheless, it has hosted the Portuguese Ladies Open on several occasions.Carvoeiro area is known for its breathtaking beaches and wonderful seafood so your best bet for a post-golf drink and/or meal is to head for the coast where the choice of restaurants and beach bars is wide and will not disappoint.(...) In 1988 San Lorenzo, by Joe Lee, opens to begin a second wave of course building. Oceanico Victoria opens in 2004 designed by none other than Arnold Palmer. Onyria Palmares built in 1970's designed by Frank Pennink got revised by Robert Trent in 2011 becoming a brand new course. In 2012, Espiche near Lagos was the last golf course built in Algarve . The new Quinta do Lago North by Beau Welling & Paul McGinley opens. 50th years of Algarve golf history completed in 2016.
