as always we had a great last day, course was good and staff very helpful, the only down side was that we didn't complete our round, as there was a really slow group a few tee times in front of us and a 5 hour did not suit our time scale as we had a flight to catch, so I would book an earlier tee time if we had a late flight again, just one of those things.

Pinhal is part of the Dom Pedro group with 5 quality golf courses. The Old Course is the best in my opinion, but Pinhal an Millenium are a close second. Pinhal has a lot of trees to conquer. Errant teeshots makes ball shaping a must. Fun thing of Pinhal is also that is has a couple of greens that are realy tiny, like hole 9 and 10... wow those are difficult to hit. So rely on your short game here. Excellent course a joy to play.

This was our final round of our stay and was as enjoyable, if not more so than the others. The course was in excellent condition, despite the rain, and has some very memorable holes, the 14th and 15th in particular. Overall a fantastic experience and we will definitely plan a return visit to Vilamoura.

Pinhal is in top condition and the best Dom Pedro course this summer! The tee board is still missing on hole 4 and there has been various rubbish at tee 16 since January! (Tee board is in the bushes…) Strange that there is not a single course worker who can pick up the rubbish that has been there for months. 10 points would otherwise have been within reach.

Good shape overall, but many players does not fix pitch mark at all! Tee board is completely missing on hole 4. On hole 16 at the tee, it looks like someone littered and drove over the tee board with a vehicle. For an experienced golfer, it is very annoying that the flag marking is wrong on most of the tee flags. Indicates poor commitment from course staff when cutting or placing the flags.

We are playing now. Course is fantastic condition. We were sent off the back 9 so started on hole 10. We played the 1st 9 paired with another couple, all of us walking. We played the 1st 9 in 1hr 50mins at a nice pace. The back 9 has been so slow it’s really spoilt our day and enjoyment of the round. We are waiting on every single shot. Due to play the back 9 in 2.50mins! Ridiculous! They shouldn’t do hole 10 start if they can’t do it properly and waste our money. Very disappointed with Pinhal but not the course. I really hope we are starting on hole 10 tomorrow or Sunday. Please pass my thoughts on to Pinhal so they don’t spoil any other players rounds. Thanks Jim brooks

The non existence of buggy paths is a problem. The dusty gravel paths do not do the course any favours and do not create a good impression.

Feels like the standard of the courses in Vilamoura gets a little bit worse for each year since it changed to Dom Pedro from Oceanico. - The greens were soo slow and very very soft which leads to big marks even from only walking on the green. Not to mention the huge pitchmarks created and when people don't repair it perfect it quickly leaves big scars on the green. - Patchy rough around the green areas. - Worn down tee boxes. + Great bunkers. All in all it really feels like the course would need to rest for a couple of weeks.

I found the course to be very worn (it was clear it is the most played in Vilamoura). The cart paths also need a lot of work... extremely bumpy driving around the cart paths in a buggy. Also some tee boxes were in bad shape. Overall layout of the course is very good however (very challenging).... Just needs some work done to improve cart paths and tee boxes...Farefares and Greens in relatively good condition.

Not the best layout of the Dom Pedro courses to my taste, since the course is spread out between houses and urban roads, but if you have already played the others, Pinhal is worth a visit. Medium difficulty to play it on foot and better to drive straight, otherwise better to swap your LW for an axe.

Had a round with a visitor from Bristol, generally good on the golf side. The course requires a greater degree of accuracy as the tree lined fairways are not very forgiving when you are off line. Our two ball was behind a members 4 ball who clearly are not aware of call through protocol. Ridiculously slow and we could have been and gone in 5 minutes if they want to stay all day out there 4 hours 15 minutes in buggies - come on! (contrast 3hours 20 minutes at the old course just 2 days earlier). One of my favourite courses at Glamour but slow play is only forgivable if you call faster groups through!

However the course is starting to look tired as the wooden landscape ties along the cart paths / tee boxes are starting to rot and show their age. Some of the green fee money must be put back into maintenance. Green fee price is high for the total package the course presents.

As I have come to expect the general condition of the course was very good except for the bunkers. I liked the pond improvements and the path around the 8th tee. There was a delay to our start and our pre booked time had been changed without prior notification. The pace of play was ok at 4:35, considering the number of players out the overall strength of the wind. Some of the cart path could do with an upgrade in particular between the 12th to 13th.

The course was great, but the pace of play was extremely slow. The round lasted well above five hours. This was due to some fleets playing very slowly. I understand that many of the players were elderly players, but still the pace could have been kept faster. The marshalls for example allowed extended searching times well exceeding the present rules. On a full day like yesterday, the starters could kindly remind all the players about the importance of keeping the pace.

Appalling set up at Pinhal. Its a pretty course but very badly overplayed. Every tee time was booked on 8 minute slots, the course was full of groups many of whom could not play but just gradually chopped the course up in front of us. We were paired with two complete beginners and struggled to play in just over 5 hours. Like alot of the Vilamoura courses they are more associated with stag parties and groups of non golfers than anyone wanting a decent game of golf. Greens were running at 8.5 (same as UK courses in about April) , tees badly hacked up, fairways not too bad. Definitely worth avoiding.

This is a tough course. Many of the courses here are tree lined, but this one has strategically placed fairway and green based trees which makes you go to the other side, where you find a strategically placed bunker! As in Laguna, although this GC is a little bit more difficult ( BUT I LIKE IT MORE ! ), I would say : everything was today EXACTLY I have expected. Here everything was good even on Oceanico period, the changes are not so dramatically. Everything is just fine, you CAN COUNT ON THAT ! Golf course design is ROBERT TRENT JONES, No words anymore. The restaurant, although more expensive than last year still have the same quality, the Pro SHOP TEAM and facilities are very Ok. The GC hasn’t buggy bar on Wheels, but has a fix one at hole 14, as far as I remember. Yes, I am sure I will play with the same pleasure tomorrow as well, despite the weather !

Apart from the very unwelcoming staff in the shop/check in area this we had a great experience and the course was in super condition, the greens were excellent, quickest of all that we played and probably the fairest in terms of true reads/breaks. We will definitely play Pinhal again but the course doesn't have any real memorable holes and at times feels very very long, and is a bit ''up and down'' in places...we played off the Yellow tees and there were a good number of holes over 450 yds, par 4, which felt even longer with tight fairways!

Pinhal golf course. Is in excellent condition. Yesterday the greens were fantastic. Soft enough to take a good shot in and leave a generous pitch mark. But smooth and accurate for good putting. The fairways were in good shape too. This is a very tight course with tree lined fairways so good accurate driving is the order of the day. One to play.

One complaint though was Pinhal. The day was extremely hot. At no pint did any drink carts come round, the half way hut was closed before 5pm and when we got to the bar they refused to sell us drinks as it was too late. We were very dehydrated as a result.

Pinhal is a beautiful and very challenging golf course. However this is where we were most affected by over booking and pace of play. Having afforded 6 hours to fit golf in before flying home in the afternoon, time shouldn't have been a problem. However after playing only 16 holes in 5 hours and 30 minutes, we had to abandon our round and missed out on 2 holes. Would recommend anybody booking here to get the earliest possible tee time before the course becomes too busy. I believe this would have been our favourite course in the Algarve had it not been for the above problems, which is a shame

Condition of the course was ok. The only negative comment I have is about the rudeness of some of the on course staff. My party was ''told off'' by one individual for starting the back 9 too early. It was high time to return back to Pinhal especially with the Oceanico Easter Special green fee rates in force and buggies at just €15.00. Particular mention has to be made to the course which was in great condition especially when there was some criticism of its awhile ago. Some of the group had not played it for several years - we were all impressed. Blustery and changeable conditions today but at least there is some shelter on this one compared to Laguna. It was a great days golf and we returned back to the spirtual home of the Society the Chez Carlos Bar & Restaurant which had reopened the last week.

Turkey and trimmings were on hold as an ensemble of x8 players eager to make the best of the fine weather gathered at Pinhal for the Society's Christmas Day Competition. All other Oceanico courses were closed as part of the ongoing winter maintenance programme so it was also an opportunity to find out if the rumours about the poor condition of Pinhal were true. I am pleased to report they were not. Greens were fine though rather slow to what we have been use to recently. New buggy paths have been laid down as well as an extensive prunning of the pines trees thus allowing more light onto the course. All in all it was good condition for winter.
