Benamor golf course was the first golf course to open east of the capital of the Algarve, Faro, and lies just outside the city of Tavira. This course offers a pleasant experience, to players of all standards. The golf course is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses provide good lies for wood and iron shots. Player's accuracy is particularly called upon by the architects' retention of as many of the old trees as feasible. These natural obstacles coupled with strategically placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge. This golf course was selected as the Best Maintained Course in 2001 by the Portuguese Golf Federation.
Beautifully maintained course Excellent service at the clubhouse Who can ask for anythingore
Great day out
Enjoyable round. Great course, well maintained with picturesque par 3’s
Welcoming enjoyed the course no waiting around. Greens not as good as some of the courses we played but acceptable for time of year
If I lived near Tavira this is the club that I would try to join. The work they have done on the course over the past few years has enhanced it beyond belief. It is not a championship course but what a course, it is a delight to play. The atmosphere in the club house, pro's shop and the restaurant is exceptional, we are not members but we were made to feel like well established members with nothing being too difficult. The breakfast in the restaurant, before golf, is highly recommended.
Enjoyed the whole experience. We were welcomed in the professionals shop, given our clubs and buggy which we had preordered. Staff very friendly when we stopped for a drink and some food.
Return to Benamor after 10 months. Course in excellent condition. Staff friendly and efficient - reception, on course and bar/restaurant.
Lovely course, less intimidating which is why we love it
Benamor is now probably our favourite course when we tour to the Algarve. Compared to other courses in the region it's quiet which is surprising given the course is in fabulous condition and has lots to offer in terms of variety of holes and challenges, especially on the back 9. A plus is that it's walkable with trollies and coming back to the clubhouse at hole 9 means a quick pit-stop is possible. We're all looking forward to playing again next year!
Nice golfcourse, not too difficult. Front nine very short par 4’s and fairways close to each other. Back nine were much more challenging!
Course and greens OK . So was the service..
Fairways a bit bare and overplayed
*Parkland - Parkland / Heathland
*Undulated - Most of the fairways very undulated
*Buggy Recommended - Prominent hills in some parts of the course
*Signature Hole - 13th
*Water hazards - Only the 13th hole has a rivulet crossing the fairway
*Tree Lined - A few trees come into play on a few holes
*Exposed - As the fairways are a bit open the wind will have to be taken in consideration
*Dogleg - Nothing at 90 degrees, but long fading dog legs
