Penina Champoinship Golf Course was previously known as the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Golf Course. The main 18 holes provide the most demanding test of a players skill in the Algarve, if not in Portugal. The inevitable difficulty that a flat landscape and terrain creates with club selection, the holes are crossed and flanked by a series of streams, ditches and water hazards, demanding precisely executed shots to avoid trouble and achieve par.|The course is beautifully maintained, winding past tall stands of eucalyptus and clumps of palm to mainly elevated greens which have subtle slopes and sometimes treacherous speeds.
At Penina Championship, we have carefully designed our Golf Packages to combine refined accommodation with access to a selection of outstanding golf courses. By including your stay and your rounds in one exclusive offer, we are able to provide exceptional value at a preferential rate — ensuring a seamless and rewarding golf escape.

Check in and swift access to the course. Clearly improvements have been made since I last played the old lady. Tees plenty of grass, fairways generally better but still neglected areas, greens weakest aspect with variable quality and mixed grass. Puff ball mushroom roots on greens. However roll was decent. As an important part of my growing up since 1972, I always hope Penina is looked after and loved.

Club was excellent. Course was very poor condition. Greens and bunkers were good though.

Always a pleasure to return back to Penina Championship. Course was in good order with stunning greens. There was evidence that the recent bad winter weather had caused damage off the course. No real investment into the course to raise it to another level like some of its competitors leaves it wanting.
