We had a great day on the course. Generally it was in Good condition some bunkers had a lack of sand and were not the best. The buggies were complimentary but were not very good they stank of diesel and were very slow. That said we will come back it’s a great layout and good fun. The bar is one of the more expensive we have used in the Algarve.

Amendoeira always provides a consistent quality every time we visit the Algarve. A few things to note this year though....no range balls in the machine however this was quickly resolved by the team and free balls handed out to all those waiting. Wild Boars have/are tearing up certain areas of the course. The greens had not been cut or the dew whiffed away the morning we played which was disappointing and we never saw the refreshments cart during the 5hr round. The O'Connor was in OK condition which in hindsight was much better than way more expensive courses we played later that week. A solid 7/10 and a good addition to any golf trip.

And nowadays you have to bring your gofbag down to the buggies youself and it is quiet a walk to go there. Very bad service. Food in the restaurant and service is not good anymore. The course has gone down in the last few years since I played it last. Tee boxes were in very poor condition overgrown with weeds. With scutch grass growing through the normal grass. Fairways fair and greens not too bad. Overall it is not up to standard. Clubhouse and general staff a bit nonchalant. Overall I wont be back to either Faldo or o'Connor and I would not recommend either at the price.

Enjoyed the course very much. The description in the golf magazine about water on the course and tricky greens scared us somewhat, but we did not find it so difficult. However, we were very dissappointed to be charged 8€ plus €2 for a vodka and soda. Found out they served us Grey Goose for the mixed drink. Never before have we been charged separately for the vodka and soda........and never before Grey Goose for a mixed drink. We felt taken advantage of. We are playing the Faldo course next week. Looking forward to that, but will be sure to make sure we check our drink orders beforehand.

Amendoeira O’Connor is a nice course with good practice facilities. However, be aware the driving range close at 12h sharp. Even if you still have half a dozen balls to hit, the range attendant will not allow you and take the balls away! Currently you cannot hit from the grass, only from the mat, where you can’t use a tee.

This is the 7 time I played this course this year 2022 and it just gets better each time the staff are very helpful and friendly played it on the 1st of December 2022 at a knock down price of €67 per person €134 for 2 persons and got the buggy free the greens were in perfect condition and the best I played in Portugal this year. Buggy's were not available right away and our Tee Time was delayed. To many groups out on the course that made the round very slow. We played the last three holes in darkness. No marshals on the course to speed up play. Explanation given by a staff member was management incompetence and lack of staff.

Amendoeira O’Connor Jnr est un parcours assez confortable à jouer: Plat avec des fairways larges, les greens sont grands, pas trop de pentes et sans bunkers à l’entrée. Certains trous exigent une bonne portée de drive (env150m des départs jaunes) sans possibilité de jouer court ou sur le coté (ce qui est très pénalisant pour les joueurs débutants!). Tout le parcours est en bon état actuellement. Balles de practice gratuites (très sympa), bonnes aires d’entrainement (Chipping, putting greens), bien situées. Buggies en bon état, avec eau minérale et glace. Club house très bien, terrasse très agréable. Personnel serviable.

Today was my first time playing Amendoeira. It was part of an excellent package offered by Teetimes.pt - five rounds, two at Palmares (see previous review) and three at Amendoeira (2 at O’Connor 1 at Faldo). I usually play solo, but was paired with another couple which was fine and turned out to be very useful! The O’Connor JNR course is in good condition tee boxes, fairways and greens (in particular). The package included buggies for the three rounds at Amendoeira which was a bonus. The buggies have a GPS touch screen in them showing the layout of the hole, positions of the bunkers and water hazards. They also has a clever system that will automatically stop the buggy if you go too close to the fringes or hazards! They also supply a cool box with bottles of water included, which was a nice touch. The couple I played with had had quite a few rounds here and gave me some useful pointers on where position shots etc which helped a lot as this was my first round here. The course overall, is good fun with some interesting holes where local knowledge is a must! The greens are quite big generally, however a few have quite steep drop offs, so any wayward approach shots can be quite heavily punished! The clubhouse is good and modern.There is a pro shop just to the left of the reception and the bar terrace makes an excellent spot for post round refreshments, with excellent views over the course, again expect to pay golf club prices for food and drinks. Practice facilities are also available. I’ve always fancied playing Palmares & Amendoeira (after playing Faldo later in my trip) but the green fees always seemed a bit steep, but thanks to the excellent Teetimes.pt package I can now cross these off my list of courses to play in the Algarve! Ps there is a drinks buggy operating on the course which is quite handy given the current temperatures!

O’Connor Jnr. course is rather flat, with wide fairways and large greens which will please long hitters. If you are not, some holes may become tough when played into the wind. All bunkers need sand to cover the wet or dry mud at the bottom, and/or the net mesh fabric which has been pulled out of the sand in several bunkers. Hazards edges need trimming. Many over grow the red and yellow stakes, which then cannot be seen. Nice putting and chipping greens. Driving range hitting areas need to be changed more often. Thanks for free bucket of range balls. Nice clubhouse and terrace, convenient parking. Mistake in our food bill (overcharged). Waiter got upset and aggressive when told. Surrounding of clubhouse and some areas on the course need cleaning, pick up debris, etc…
Tee Times reply: Amendoeira Resort apologies for any miscondut of their bar staff, and we also have the information that Amendoeira Resort will be improving their maintenance from beginning of June, when most of their staff come back from layoff situations.

Wider than the Faldo course, but also lots of very interesting holes to play, and varieties of short/long holes, dog legs right/left. The ''second'' course is just as much a challenge as the Faldo. A range of challenges require fairways to be hit . Varied design. Greens were top dressed which slowed them down, perhaps some advance notice could be issued...still full price. However got out early and enjoyed the views , the holes and experience. Clubs taken to the buggy, and back. 31c required a cold towel at the end which was most welcome!

Enjoyed the course better than the faldo course. Although first 11 holes seemed to be in to the wind, it was still an okay challenge of the yellow tees. Again, infrastructure is in need of attention, tee boxes, paths etc, but they are all working hard on it. The greens were huge and in great nick. Lots of water around, but not necessarily a huge problem if you are clever. Lots of area to land your driver, so all in all good fun.

Not overly keen on the course, you start it and it has nice feel but after 18 holes which all seem the same it is a bit boring. Also as 3 men playing being partnered with an old lady was not a good experience. I would highly recommend they remove the reeds so you can see the shot over water it would be far better than looking at yet another shot over reeds.

Lovely course and in excellent condition for a resort course. Only criticism would be bunkers, sand too compacted, probably from all the watering. Splash shot was not possible, almost everyone was like playing off fairway. Best hint - stay out of bunkers. Play O'Connor first, Faldo probably just shades it.
