There were expectations in the air during my visit to San Roque Golf Club, where I played Old Course. They hosted the Spanish championship in 2005. There was good parking and the front desk was friendly, welcoming and spoke several languages. After the check in, they referred me to the Club Master, who quickly found a club car for me, made sure I got some water bottles, dried the seats off after a slight rain shower and showed the way to the driving range where I hit a some balls. He was constantly aware that I was alone on the course and therefore made sure I came out in front of a 4 and 3 ball. A beautiful course with som blind shots on a narrow fairway. Did the round in 86 and made 40 stableford points. The only downside of the visit was the tee areas, the players lack of etiquette on greens (straight ball marks up) and the restaurant. For 18 € you will expect more than a slick wraps with some gray salmon.
