What a superb course. Played it twice and despite heavy rain the course held up well. Greens good and wide fairways. Some holes with large carries from the tee. Starters very pleasant who gave good advice on which tees to play depending on handicap. Lovely views of the course and ocean from the clubhouse outside balcony. Huge toasted sandwiches with chips. A great experience.

Incredible golf course! Fantastic design and very challenging. Couldn’t ask for a better layout or views. However, the condition of fwys were not good and the bunkers were just awful. If this course was conditioned at a higher level it would easily be a top 100 in the world. Still recommend playing, but hopefully the conditions improve.

Our round took over 5 hours to complete which is far too long. The course is very demanding and challenging even for a competent golfer let alone high handicappers. The difficulty was increased by pin positions being placed where even the pro's would struggle. Watching playing partners struggle to 4 putt from 10 to 15ft was painful and miserable. The pin positions on 2,3,6,7,8,10,11,13,15,16 were far too extreme. The club needs to understand that they have a course that although visually stunning needs to be set up for the majority not the minority otherwise 5 hour rounds become the norm. Stunning golf course. What a great layout. A number of blind shots! Course in fabulous condition. Staff really helpful and friendly. Only downside - a 5 hour round as groups ahead were slow. We didn't mind though as the weather was lovely! Will definitely be back!

A great course to play. It is a very challenging track, but our group (handicaps between 4 and 16) all managed. The design of the course is different to most in that the fairways have been cut into the natural dunes with (apparently) no work undertaken on the dune areas. The natural vegetation on the dunes is thick scrub/gorse, so if you are off the fairway the ball is gone, guaranteed. If you are up for the challenge, this course will reward you, but if you are looking for holiday golf, you are best off elsewhere. The clubhouse and service are great.

One of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever played and very well maintained! I will definitely go back! Improvement opportunities are the buggy’s are need to be replaced in my opinion with a digital screen. Very common in the U. S. Especially for this course as there are a few holes where you really can’t see the fairway very well and some blind spots too! A digital screen can share info about each hole, distance and electronic score keeping just to name a few benefits. The clubhouse was pretty week compared to other courses I’ve played in Portugal. Minimal chooses if you need balls and the ladies were very nice but appeared to be more receptionist and just collecting money from what I could see. It’s also very small!

This is the most difficult but also the most beautiful and well maintained course in the region. On a lot of holes, especially in the back nine, there are magnificent views of the ocean and its surroundings. Choose your tee box wisely because a drive not on the fairway is mostly a lost ball. From the white tees, there are a lot of holes where you need a carry of 175m to hit the fairway so you need to hit a good one every time. The greens are very fast en with a lot of undulations and run-offs so your putter has to be hot as well. A true test but if you are not playing your best, just enjoy the views and come back another time. We enjoyed the food and drinks afterwards in the clubhouse. The staff were very friendly.

Excellent. Very good facilities and helpful staff. The whole development is under construction but that did not detract from the enjoyment of the course with wonderful views. The course is undoubtedly challenging with some long carries and, if we had not played reasonably well, it would have been very tough. However, there is a range of tees and the starter was helpful in trying to make sure we played off the most appropriate for our handicaps. We shall certainly go back to West Cliffs but will avoid Praia D’El Rey!

Far too slow at 51/2 hours. Each buggy given a tracker but not sure why they bother because nobody can have been checking on whichever group was causing the problem. Eventually the daylight failed, leaving a few disappointed golfers behind us too. The course itself is very challenging and excellent. The clubhouse staff all very good.

Service in golf reception exemplary. We had dinner in clubhouse which was a little pricey but good quality. Definitely one to come back to.

We have played west Cliffs Golf Course several times in previous years and it is still a great experience. It should be noted, however, that the course is by no means easy to play! The course can be done with a Trolly, but on hot days I would choose a Buggy!

Did not disappoint. Expecting a stunning course from all I had read, and it certainly was. If I was a high handicapper then definitely listen to the starter who advises the appropriate tee to use. Greens are the toughest I’ve ever putted on with many being a tad unfair (no chance of getting first putt near the hole due to massive undulations, tiers, speed and pin positions). But if your in the area you have to play it.

Fabulous lay out and one I rated very highly when I played here 2 years ago. Unfortunately Covid has not been kind to the course. Bunkers were in terrible condition, the greens were hairy and the cheap golf rates mean you have all sorts of hackers playing (slowly) and not fixing pitch marks or bunkers. Very disappointed. Would have given it a lower score if not for the good lunch

Positive: Beautiful views and nature next to the magnification complex. But: 1- golf course designed by someone that never played golf in his life 2- tee boxes all directed towards to woods instead of the fairways 3- greens surrounded by bushes instead of leaving a little space for error 4- greens not receptive even when playing a par 3 - 130m shot with an 8 iron 5- fairways turning and turning asking for blind shots without any indication of the hazards 6- hidden water hazards without high sticks to show the hazards 7- tee-box fairway distance requiring often a carry of +190m from yellow equivalent tees, with these fairways being narrow and declining towards the water 8- non markings on where to go to the next for the next hole/tee boxes 9- tee boxes not marked from the paths, ao you have to go up the tee-box to know which one it is 10- oddly shaped greens on par 3 without area collecting balls if you miss it, but only deep rough around the greens 11- Club house is modern but no terras in the sun available so cold 12- staff is not professional in the club house and waiting for drinks takes ages 13- the caddie master and greenkeepers staff in charge is really friendly and good 14- people at the pro-shop are cool, distant and not customer oriented My advice is to hire a golf director that finishes the course and manages the staff

I do not believe I would ever say that a 5 hour round of golf would be a pleasure....but it was with a beautiful day, great views and an excellent course. Every hole is a picture and makes you think...and when you get to the greens there is still a lot of work to do. The rough is penal so don't go there but the fairways look narrower than they are in reality so go for a positive swing and you will probably be fine! A great challenge in a 3 club wind.

Played the course for the second time, scenery is at times spectacular! Course experience remains a bit mixed, its a tough course to walk, 10,5km in very hilly terrain. Some of the holes are bordering on being a bit unfair when even good shots sometimes get penalised. On the day, the fairways were not mowed, a bit soft and yielded no roll, greens were very slow. Overall, the course would probably benefit from a bit more maintenance. Its the type of course thats interesting to play every once in a while but I wouldn't want to have it as my home course.

Friendly welcome. Course in good condition and we’ll presented. However, far too much sand in the bunkers which meant the balls were always plugging in them if the ball came in from a height. Greens in very good condition but were on the slow side - this was due to the fact that they needed a cut!! Just under 5 hours for the round which is very slow indeed. No coursed Marshall on the back 9 holes which was disappointing. Far too many poor golfers playing a tough course.

Amazingly sculpted course out of dunes topography. Stunning views from 5th hole onwards. Incredibly penal if you're offline off the tee, as if you miss the fairway and first cut as.i rough, you're in desert like sandy transition with bushes, plants, footprints, tyre tracks, etc.. Easy to lose a ball or have an unplayable. Some greens very severe with front to back slopes and tiers, and being firm, unless you strike perfectly, will not hold. With dramatic run offs, deep bunkers, transition or water around most greens, you need to make sure you miss in the right place.....or else. Wonderful experienceoberall, but don't play medal, you'll take all day! Fabulous clubhouse and excellent food and service.

We enjoyed a nice albeit quite windy day out at West Cliffs with a fair amount of sunshine and some stunning scenery. The course itself we also enjoyed however it was certainly a challenge in very blustery conditions, we enjoyed most aspects of the course however, given that the fairways are quite narrow in places, coupled with the wind, results in many shots missing the fairway.......BALLS ARE VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND OFF THE FAIRWAYS, THIS WILL SLOW DOWN PLAY TO PAINFUL 5-6 HOUR ROUNDS, WE FEAR, WHEN THE COURSE GETS BUSY! ALSO, IF THE GREENS GET MUCH QUICKER THAN THEY WERE TODAY, WHEN THEY WERE QUITE SLOW, THEY WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO MASTER GIVEN THE NARROW SHAPE AND UNDULATING SHAPE OF MOST OF THEM!

This course will be very good when it matures. However, they MUST produce a Course Guide / Strokesaver booklet. There are a LOT of blind shots, especially on the front nine. They moved too many of the Yellow (5700) tees forward to near the blue (5500) tees and that spoiled the first round, making it too easy. There were also no pin sheets, so it was difficult to judge the distances without a laser DMD. There should be a golf bag drop off area when you arrive and caddymaster staff should then put golf bags on the buggies if you are using one. The course can be walked but the distances from greens to tees are long. The price of buggies is extortionate (€42.50). Teetimes.pt needs to negotiate a package price as there is for Royal Obidos and PDR.
