Played here twice this week and reckon this is the most difficult course in the area. A test for even the most proficient of golfers. The staff were great and very helpful.
If you are of an older generation like us I recommend buggies and you will thank us by the time you get from the 1st green to the 2nd tee that involves a long and pretty steep climb. We found the whole course picturesque, with some nice views over the lagoon. Some wonderful holes with water, whilst lovely to look at, have an appetite to swallow golf balls. Course was soft in places highlighted by flags following some heavy rain. Despite the heavy conditions we had a most enjoyable experience and will certainly return again. This was the last of 6 games booked with teetimes.pt and we were very pleased with how easy the process was and how efficient they were with all the bookings.

The course was in excellent condition, both fairways and greens. Be aware there are many shots needed over water into greens, a typical Seve course I’m told, if water is not your “thing” then might be worth avoiding, or take lots of golf balls, HOWEVER , it is a very good course.

Royal Obidos is much more like the courses we play at home. Two very different halves. The front nine goes into a valley that has some interesting tight holes, then it's onto the back nine, which is much more open, but has some interesting holes which involve carrying over water. Definitely worth playing along with West Cliff, which is only a few minutes away. The clubhouse is not very inviting, and is more like a viewing area of the course, but we were staying at the hotel and returned there for a drink and snack after our round.

The golf course at the Royal Óbidos really good in all aspects: maintenance and quality, complexity, well-maintained environment and great views. It is definitely worth playing more than once.
This is truly a royal golf club...very neat surroundings, new buggies, excellent quality courses and pleasant service. One of the best golf courses in the region and in all of Portugal. Of course, the golf course itself is not easy, like all Seve Ballesteros designed golf courses. Despite various adventures in order to play as well as possible, we had a very good time.

The excessive rain had made the ground extremely soggy. Balls were getting plugged in fairways and some lost. Unplayable on first day, in a lot of places our feet were sinking.
Next round the ground had dried out a little.

Given the recent weather we knew the course would be wet in places, but we didn't expect to find the fairways longer than the rough in the UK!! That said, the greens were in excellent condition but the tee boxes certainly needed some attention.

Poor weather again. Course not as well presented as they would have liked. Lots of mowing had left wet grass cuttings and somewaht untidy areas on the course.

Once again the pace of play was very slow until we asked the Course Marshall on several occasion to hurry people up. 5 plus hours is too long. The course is a championship course that they allow beginners to take hours over playing.

Great golf course with exception of one dogleg right par 4. Greens were excellent. Fairways in excellent condition. Clubhouse was adequate. Caddymaster was such a nice guy.

Staff is friendly. The course itself is really nicely maintained. Wonderful view! Interesting holes (with obstacles, e.g. pond). We would like to play one more round before we head back home. Clubs and trolleys can be kept there free of charge.
Due to the preparation of the Portuguese Open, buggy is not allowed to be on the course. This is a slightly negative point but understandable.
We like everything. The hotel itself is great too.

On arrival at RO I was informed there were no buggies for me and they were all booked out all day.I showed my confirmation from tee times -but she said tee times had not booked any buggies for me.i have had a total knee replacement and cannot walk 18 holes.As we were playing at 08.30 and the course was empty i was able to persuade her that we would get round quickly [ 3 and a half hours in fact ].So we did get 2 buggies at 47 euro each.The course was fantastic yet again

A beautiful challenging golf course in perfect condition.The reception staff were very friendly and accommodating.Food was excellent in the restaurant.
Only negative remark would be the beer was warm on the mobile buggy bar with limited selection of refreshments and he was only around once.Buggies were very standard with no GPS,cooler with ice or divot mix.
