Very nice course. Greens true and undulating. Great views. If you are a single you will have to make an effort to get paired up as they don't do that by default. Course was very quiet in May. Courtesy bus is a money saver if you don't have a car but they time your pickup so you arrive at the course about 10 mins before your tee time so only a quick practice putt if you're lucky!

27 Loch Platz. Ganz oben. Achtung: Warme Kleidung sollte dabei sein, kann empfindlich kalt werden, auch wenn unten warm. Etwa gut 30 Minuten von Funchal entfernt, oberhalb des Flughafens. Zustand ordentlich, kleinere Grüns, mittelschnell. Kurs AB Machico/Desertas sehr hügelig, Cart empfohlen € 36,00. Spektakuläre Ausblicke, man vergisst das Spiel oft. Kurs Serra moderater, weil ebener und waldig. Schöne Clubhausterrasse, guter Proshop.//27 hole course. At the top. Caution: Warm clothing should be included, it can get sensitively cold, even if it is warm underneath. About 30 minutes from Funchal, above the airport. Condition neat, smaller greens, moderately fast. Course from Machico/Desertas very hilly, Cart recommended € 36.00. Spectacular views, you often forget the game. Course Serra more moderate because level and wooded. Beautiful clubhouse terrace, good pro shop.

We had problem with the transportation from the hotel. The driver said that only one person was ordered from Royal Savoy. He called Santo da Serra which confirmed one person . I said that 2 greenfees were paid, so transportation shoul be also for two. After a while they admitted their mistake but the car was full, so we were asked to wait another car. Luckily they changed their transportation plan and the same car came to pick up us. This was very bad experience for us because we thought that we are not able to play during that day. All other thinf worked pretty well in Santo da Serra

Very warm welcome in the pro shop, delightful service in the bar, excellent tomato soup too. 10 out of 10. I think German people must have different golfing etiquette than us British. A very slow German fourball ahead of us (a fast two ball) had no intention of letting us through. to the open course beyond. We waited five minutes on many tees, and often waited several minutes for our shots to the green. We decided we prefer British golfing etiquette.

The golf course was in good condition. And also the layout was interesting. Would love to play it again to see the other 9 holes which were closed yesterday. But, Personally I think the price is too high, so I would not play it again after I play the remaining 9 holes. Facilities and course is fine, lower score is because of value for money.

Drei sehr schöne 9-Loch Kurse. Beliebig kombiniert bieten sie genug Abwechslung für einen Madeira-Urlaub. Ein Meisterschaftskurs ist es nicht (mehr), aber allemal anspruchsvoll genug für gute Golfer und machbar für Anfänger. Die Abschläge sind zu kurz gesteckt. Ein gern genommener Selbstbetrug. Das Personal ist zuvorkommend uns spricht einwandfrei englisch. Klare Empfehlung.

Hello ! We had 3,5 days with good weather and pleasant golf--Madeira may in January not be the right place for golf. ! The courses were good, but not of a quality that you would specifically remember. We have played better ones in both Portugal, Spain and e. g. Scotland and Sweden. The Golf Club Restaurant´s food was not of the kind you will save as a memory. All in all our hotel Santo da Serra Golf was very good, the staff at the golf course and the hotel very friendly and service-minded. Will we return for golf, ? Not likely , but may be for hikes and pleasure. Yours friendly Tom Ilmoni

Heute haben wir den Machicho und Desierte gespielt. Ein eindrucksvoller Platz .spektakulärer Ausblick, obwohl es heute sehr kalt und windig war, haben wir die Runde genossen. Durch die Regenfälle der letzten zwei Tage waren die Bunker teilweise unter Wasser, dafür waren die Greens schon hart und schnell. Wir werden den Platz noch 3-4 mal spielen und freuen uns jetzt schon darau.

Perfect organized. The weather in Serragolf was so bad - we switched kindly to Palhero. We had a visibility of only 30 Meters with clouds on the ground. In Palheiro the weather was sunny and warm ;-) Thank You Jorge - that is very good organized, also between the Golfclubs.

Die 3 x 9 Loch sind sehr schön in die Landschaft integriert, phantastischer Ausblick von Desertas und Macchico, Serra haben wir als etas langweilig empfunden. Pflegezustand sehr gut, da es in dieser Höhe auch deutlich häufiger regnet. Golfkleidung auch entsprechend anpassen! Mit Trolley sollte man gute Kondition haben. Clubrestaurant von der Qualität nicht unbedingt zu empfehlen.

Good course in a great location looking out over the South East coast. Played Machico and Desertas nines. Machico nine was very good with excellent holes 2 to 6 nearer to ocean. Desetas nines is more open and has some weaker holes. Overall good challenge in a lovely setting. Pro shop staff were very efficient and welcoming.

I was surprised at the condition of the course for a PGA golf course . The bunkers were hard and the sand was more grit than sand . I was very difficult to find the access to the fairways from the buggy paths due to height of thr concrete edging . The signage was very poor and I missed the next tee on a number of occasions . The quality of the buggies was also poor andI had to return one because the brakes were dangerous . The plus side was the quality of the greens which were quick with difficult borrows . A well kept golf course that offers challenging holes with astonishing views. Grass is lush from greens to roughs. The clubhouse is also worth a visit; at the time of our visit they served very nice house wine. The only downside to this course, at least during the time we were there (end of May to early June), as that playing was not guaranteed due to weather. The location high in the mountains means that visibility might go down to zero in a heartbeat. We were in luck and got to play all our rounds this time but not everyne did.
