Amarilla Golf & Country Club was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1989, hosting the Tenerife Open on the European PGA Tour the following year. The course sits on Tenerife's south coast beside the San Miguel Marina, a short drive from Reina Sofía airport, with Mount Teide rising inland beyond the fairways.
The front holes play downhill toward the Atlantic through typical Canarian flora, palms and pines giving way to the coastline itself. The par-3 5th is the course's signature moment: the sea becomes the fairway, and the tee shot must carry a rocky inlet to reach the green. The back nine climbs into the lower foothills, trading sea views for a tighter, more technical test through barrancos and a residential development. Narrow fairways ask for accuracy over power, though the layout stays fair for players of any level.
Facilities include a driving range, putting green, and a 9-hole, par-27 pitch and putt just steps from the pro shop, ideal for warming up or for those new to the game. The clubhouse restaurant and bar overlook the 18th and the ocean beyond. Book your round at Amarilla and take on one of Tenerife's most photographed holes.

Staff fantastic and friendly. Course is crammed into an area too tight. No rough to speak of, just out of bounds a few steps off the fairway. This is probably due to the high cost of maintenance but you will get better value local clubs around Europe. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff though

We played Amarilla twice and it was in fantastic condition. It was a fair test of golf for everyone in our group.
