Villamartin has been a fixture of the Costa Blanca since June 1972, when Robert Dean Putman, the same architect behind La Manga's championship courses, laid it out on the southern edge of Orihuela Costa. It remains the oldest course in the region, and more than fifty years of maturity show in every fairway.

The front nine sits on higher ground, opening up sweeping views across the countryside to the sea, while the back nine drops into the valley, where ravines cut across several holes and demand real course management.
