Teeth of the Dog Golf Course

Teeth of the Dog Golf Course was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1971 under its original name, Diente del Perro, hand-carved from razor-sharp coral by a Dominican labour crew working largely with sledgehammers and pickaxes. It has just emerged from a major restoration: closed in January 2025, the course reopened for resort play in December 2025 with renewed playing surfaces while preserving Dye's original character.

Seven holes, at 5 through 8 and 15 through 17, run directly along the Caribbean Sea, prompting Dye's own verdict: ''I created eleven holes and God created seven.'' The 16th and 17th are the standouts of that stretch, the 17th in particular flanked by coral on three sides with the sea directly behind the green, no safe miss anywhere. Consistently ranked the number one course in the Caribbean and a regular on world top-100 lists, it remains the course that put Dominican golf on the map.
