The New course perfectly complements the David Thomas layout that transformed the site back in the 1980s and which put San Roque onto the world stage of golf. Both Trent Jones and David Thomas had expansive sites on which to practice their arts. In this case, Perry Dye, son of the illustrious Pete, found a limited canvas at odds with the magnanimous acreage to which most US golf architects are accustomed. The San Roque New course is laid over a scant 45 hectares, a vaguely triangular-shaped oblong lying parallel to the ocean and with a sacrosanct nature reserve running along one boundary. To complicate matters, its centrepiece was a huge hill festooned with cork and oak trees. Plainly, ''shifting dirt'', as the Dye dynasty has it, was a priority, as was transplanting trees, hundreds of them. San Roque New is an all-round examination of ability and character where the major test invariably awaits with the approach shot. The New course greens, though large, present small targets in that they have a narrow opening or are angled, often side-on and partially hidden by subtle mounding. The lay-up will be a popular option here. Horticulturally speaking, the New course is unique in several aspects. In what he classifies as his wilderness areas, the architect has introduced a species the Americans know as love grass. Similar to marram grass but finer stemmed and lusher, it lays a knee-high carpet that gives a “Mexican wave” in a breeze. It forms a beautiful backdrop to many holes, along with another innovation: cascading wildflowers, acres of them, whose seeds were brought over from their native Colorado, where Dye is based. The more practical grasses are unusual, too. Dye has used five varieties of hybrid Bermuda on each hole: tees, fairways, greens surrounds and on the putting surfaces. On the greens, it is Tifeagle, a species ideally suited to the climate of Southern Spain. It is one that doesn’t hibernate in winter. It gives a good matt cover and has a finer grain, too, bringing a more consistent roll than the old fashioned Bermuda. Good putters will be licking their lips, although they’d better be sharp-eyed. The greens get a tad slick down-grain and consequently more than a hint slower against it. On cross-grain putts, the ball will wander just a touch at the death so bring your reading glasses! A compelling vista is enhanced by a series of rock retaining walls, built from material unearthed in the construction, and two large lakes. The latter provides irrigation and add spice to four holes: the 7th and 14th greens straddle one lake; the 9th and 18th are separated by the other. The New Course is simply a celebration of golf in its purest form.

Santana Golf & Country Club is an 18 Hole golf course par 72 of approx. 6203 metres (just under 7000 yards) in length, set in 138 acres of picturesque parkland. The final result is a magnificent course with wide and well defined fairways on level terrain, hence easily walkable, where water features play an important albeit not excessive part in the overall design. The Links Course Opened in 1990 and designed by Peter Ellis and Clive Clark. The topography of the land, made of Alcaidesa gentle slopes that descend to the sea, ending in a beautiful beach, creates a front of nearly 2 km. Most of the holes are close to the beach. It has a 18-hole course that begins and ends at the new clubhouse. The difficulty of the course lies mainly in the condition of the prevailing winds of the place. One of the peculiarities of the field that most impresses the visitors, is its spectacular view over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa. Total length is 5866 m

Los Naranjos golf course is a typical Robert Trent Jones design with generous fairways and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The greens, recently rebuilt with Penn A4-gras, are spacious and slightly undulated. The tees are long and have four markers: red, yellow, white and black with course lengths starting from 5.131 metres and reaching 6.532 metres at its longest.

La Quinta Golf Course was designed by three time world champion and Ryder Cup winner, Manuel Piñero it is one of the most attractive golf courses in the area, accessible to all levels of play. It satisfies the amateur golfer in the same way as the professional. The speed of its greens is noteworthy, as is the quality of the service offered in the golf club. Mijas Golf International offers two 18 holes golf courses: Los Lagos and Los Olivos. These particularly flat courses are one of the most visited on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Mijas Golf is located at the Costa del Sol 4 kilometres of the N340 towards Alhaurin el Grande close to Fuengirola. The Los Lagos golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, was founded in 1976. Although the wide fairways and light rough provide this course a friendly character at first sight, one should be aware of the large bunkers and multiple water hazards formed by eight lakes! The par five 5th hole, 564 m, is one of the longest holes at the Costa del Sol and Andalucía. The Los Olivos golf course, also designed by Robert Trent Jones, was inaugurated in 1984. This course is shorter than Los Lagos and water hazards are less in play. Nevertheless los Olivos is not easier to beat. The fairways and greens are smaller and there is more vegetation and undulation.The Mijas Golf Resort has an unique entrance, an American style wide road swirls through the fairways and greens towards the clubhouse and the reputable Hotel Byblos Andaluz.

A lovely pleasant golf course between the ocean and mountains. The Torrequebrada golf course is close to Malaga Air terminal, Torremolinos and Fuengirola, and fair 10 minutes from Benalmádena and its well known harbour. Torrequebrada hosted the 53rd Spanish Open Championship in 1979. The more average player can test his aptitude on each hole, no matter his handicap. The greens are outstanding for their size and speed. Deliberately set lakes and bunkers include to the course´s challenge and intrigued. Over 100 assortments of bushes and trees line Torrequebrada´s fairways and each hole includes a scenery of the blue Mediterranean and the mountains.

Los Olivos is the second course of Mijas International. Los Olivos golf course is a 18-hole course with smaller undulating greens well protected by bunkers.

ReaL Club de Golf Las Brisas, given the royal status, is an absolutely excellent golf course located in the famous Golf Valley west of Marbella at the Costa del Sol in Spain. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, the golf course opened in 1968 and hosted many major international golf events. Among them are the Spanish Open three times, the Mediterranean open and the World Cup twice. A multitude of provoking water hazards, raised greens and a wonderful variety of vegetation make playing this well-maintained course an absolute delight.

Miraflore golf course is set within the Costa Del Sol's golf mile. Designed by Falco Nardi and opened in 1990, Miraflores Golf Club has undergone a transformation and offers a real challenge to all levels of golfing ability. Each one of the 18 holes offers a different challenge. The golf course follows the natural contours of the valley and is much flatter than first appearance suggests.

The La Cañada Golf Course is a fitting tribute to the people of Guadiaro who became golf addicts overnight with the emergence of Sotogrande. In the early days of the golf course, La Cañada just had 9 holes, and some years later it was added a second course designed by David Thomas. The full length Trent Jones course is located in the hills adjacent to Valderrama and is open to some wind.

Lauro is an inland golf course which is located in a beautiful setting, 300 metres above sea level, so it has great views and a mild climate. Originally an 18 hole golf course, 9 holes were added 10 years later. Each of the fine 9 hole loops features prominent water hazards on the final hole, all par 72. Lauro is laid out on undulating terrain beside protected forest areas, not far from Malaga airport. Holes are named after famous bullfighters and fairways are set amoung pine, cork, olive and citrus tress.

Benalmádena Golf was designed by Marco Martín & Blake Stirling (Global Golf Company) to achieve a hilarious but demanding 9-hole Pitch & Putt par 27 course, ideal both for practicing and perfecting the short game and for getting started in this sport. It is, without a doubt, the best Pitch & Putt on the Costa del Sol.

Antequera Golf course is a spectacular 18 hole Golf Course, surrounded by thenatural park: EL TORCAL. The length of the course is over 6000 meters and its Olive trees, acorn trees and natural herb plants, add to the natural environment and the special character of real inland Andalusia. The player will find a demanding golf course presenting to them a variety of interesting golf shots with different options to play every hole according to their level of golf. The golf course offers: Professional shop, practice area with illuminated driving range, putting greens, chipping zones, bar, cafeteria, restaurant, conference room and function rooms up to 500 people, Changing rooms for men and ladies.

Santa Clara Golf opened in July 2001. This golf course is located only a couple of kilometres east of Marbella at the Costa del Sol in Spain.Enrique Canales designed this course in ''Park-land'' style and, although Santa Clara Golf is located in an undulated area, it is relatively forgiving. Probably the most difficult hole is the long 8th (par 5 - 506 metres). The tee box is positioned at the highest level of the course. The narrow fairway of this hole curves all the way down to sea level.Santa Clara Golf is designed accordance the latest USGA specifications of a Park-land course. Besides the huge river which swirls across the whole golf course there are plenty of lakes (the small lake around the 18th green provides a stunning setting, see the picture above) and spectacular elevated greens.

Guadalmina Golf is a popular golf course providing two 18 hole golf courses and a 9 hole practise course. Founded in 1959, the course is located 1 kilometre west of San Pedro de Alcántara at the Costa del Sol in the Malaga region. In general Guadalmina Golf can be described as a golf course with reasonably wide undulated fairways sweeping through recently developed urbanization's and villas. The North course runs almost parallel to its southern ''brother''. It is shorter and hillier than the south course and has more water obstacles. The course requires straight drives down the middle of the fairways as failure to do so may have one ending up in one of the numerous water hazards hidden in the rough.

Atalaya New Golf Course opened in 1990 with 18 holes, Par 71 and a length of 5142 meters Atalaya New is more challenging and hilly then the Old course. While the experts might find the challenge a little limited, the average club golfer will certainly find it quite enough to handle as the greens are sharply contoured and quick.

Atalaya golf course owes much of its charm and beauty to the fact that it was created back in 1968, before the rash of golf urbanisation development that has seen golf courses spring up all over the Costa del Sol. It was a slower pace of life in those days, when the design of a golf course was the priority rather than packing in the apartments on the edge of every fairway. Skilled ground staff have not only maintained the quality of the golf courses over the years, but created a perfect ambience around the clubhouse with pretty fountains surrounded by richly-coloured beds of flowers.The fact that it is a members’ club open to green fee paying guests gives it a distinctive edge over its newer, flashier competitors. Los Arqueros Golf Course was designed by Seve Ballesteros, this championship 18 hole, par 71, 5306m golf course was opened in 1991. Many of the fairways are bordered by steep ravines and the golf course is dotted with several streams, water hazards and strategically positioned trees, carefully positioned to demand careful calculation and accuracy rather than risk taking. The original layout of Los Arqueros offers impeccably kept fairways and spectacular scenery and an interesting feature is the S shaped bunker at the 9th hole created as a signature mark by the designer. The design thinking behind Los Arqueros Golf was to lay out a golf course which closely followed the contours of the land and was in harmony with the natural setting. It is an idea, which Seve exploited to the maximum when designing the front and back nine holes, each with its own distinct personality. The result is a golf course which presents a challenge for the experienced golfer and is a real test of skills for beginners.

Tramores Golf club is a 18-hole Par 65 golf course et in beautiful surroundings between 2 valleys and with stunning views over the Mediterranean, the course feels protected from the elements and a million miles away from the hussle and bustle of the coastal resorts. The course is a great way to unwind or hone your short game skills without needing to be on the course for a four and a half hour round.

Real Guadalhorce Golf Club on the Costa Del Sol was redesigned by Miguel Angel Jimenez. The golf course was first designed by the Finnish architect, D. Kosti Kuronen, and was redesigned in 2009 by Club member, D. Miguel Ángel Jiménez, who used the Club and facilities to practice and train. The golf course lies in the centre of the fertile plains of Guadalhorce valley and you will not find yourself in the middle of a built up area which may spoil your game. The family atmosphere is one of the main features and despite being a private club, you can enjoy its facilities on weekdays with a prior reservation.

The South course is the oldest course of the Gualdalmina complex. It is renowned for its difficulty, thus making it more suitable for experienced players. Fairways are narrow and well protected by old trees requiring straight shots.
