Quinta de Cima Course shows itself as a very competitive golf course with dog-legs to the right and the left and greens well protected by sand hazards and lakes. A stream with dams and permanent flowing water crosses several holes. Since there will be no real estate construction on the site, the Cima Course is indeed a paradise to those golfers who love to be always in contact with nature.|In one of the Driving Ranges, with generous dimensions and built in the south/north direction, when hitting from the northern tees, one may appreciate a magnificent view of the mountains as well as of the Ocean. But from any part of the colfourse, both the sea and the Algarvean mountains are a delight to anyones eyes. On the other Driving Range, designed to practice with irons, there is the Robinson Golf Academy.

Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course was the second golf course built in Vilamoura. Several refinements were incorporated over the years. It is typified by rolling parkland terrain covered with numerous umbrella and Atlantic pines that line many of the fairways and a few even stand out on fairways or near greens.|Ponds and a stream come into play on five holes but are not serious threats to above-average golfers. To keep up with modern technical advances in clubs and balls, several holes have recently been lengthened. The clubhouse was completely renovated and modernized at the turn of the millennium and from the large verandah, one can enjoy a panoramic view over the excellent driving range and practice facilities.

Dom Pedro Laguna Golf Course in Vilamoura - Algarve, laid out over low-lying coastal terrain, this course, with its many water hazards and few trees, is considerably different from the other ones at the resort and many of its holes convey a links atmosphere. Many previous visitors will recognize it as part of the former 27-hole Vilamoura III course.|It includes several lakes which influence play on a total of 11 holes. In addition to acting as hazards and emergency water reservoirs, these lakes serve a useful purpose in attracting a variety of aquatic birds, both resident and migratory, as well as amphibians, otters, terrapins, etc.| Vilamoura's master developers, Lusotur, have also established an environmental nature park not far from the course. Apart from the lakes and an impressive total of 79 bunkers, another hazard is the wind that frequently blows over this somewhat exposed location.

Aroeira Challenge Golf Course was built to European Tour recommendation standards in order to host major international golf events. One of the course's characteristics is its 5 tees per hole, making it suitable for all levels of players.|The course has a fairly different concept from Aroeira 1, consisting of large fast greens, some of which are more than 700 m2. There are bunkers on the fairways, some of them in the Scottish style of pot bunkers. But the sand traps are not the only obstacle that have to be taken into account: because of the course's five large lakes, water is a fairly constant hazard, particularly at the last nine holes.

Ribagolfe I, is located 30 minutes drive east of Lisbon city centre, set within a forest of cork oak trees and the design makes full use of the sweeping undulations of the site, providing many spectacular golf holes across valleys and lakes. You can be sure that you will be surrounded by nothing but nature.|Ribagolfe I, has been created as a potential tournament venue. The fairly narrow fairway corridors through the cork oaks place the emphasis on accurate shot-making rather than length while large bunkers increase the challenge, particularly around the greens. Ribagolf is considered to be a sensational golf course, in which the natural element becomes an important part of the game and provides fresh challenges for even the most demanding of golfers.

Oporto Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Portugal. It begins with a par 4 against the famous nortada, the prevailing north wind, which makes it rather difficult. The approach to the green, which is narrow and doubletiered, turns this first hole into an excellent test for any player.|Although holes 4 and l1 are the most difficult ones, we consider the par-4 7th and par-3 14th to be the best that can be designed in terms of golf. The 9th and 18th, normally offer good opportunities for birdies, making a pleasant finish to a competition. In a superb atmosphere which is possible only among the traditionally hospitable people from the North of Portugal, the Oporto Club offers excellent facilities in its clubhouse, with a restaurant that is a general favourite of its members for eating out.

Batalha Golf Course set on a historic site (the name Batalha derives from the battle waged here between liberal and absolutist troops in the 19th century fighting for political control of the island of São Miguel), the most recent golf course in the Azores stands on a plain close to Ponta Delgada,.|To the North, the course faces seawards, whilst in the East it looks towards the hills, with higher mountains to the South. The fact that the course was built on volcanic rock created difficulties in its design and has resulted in a spectacular contrast between the green playing areas and the dry woods standing on rocky soil to the side of these. The holes are long and wide with large undulating greens, flanked by tall trees.

Estela Golf course is a true links, located in a magnificent area with 1st class commodities and with a climate cooled by the Atlantic breeze in summer and warmed by the Gulf stream in winter. With is narrow fairways, good tee shots are the key to a good score. The type of grass used contributes to create excellent game conditions with good fairways and greens that are both firm and fast. The sound of the ocean is a constant throughout the game, and most greens are elevated and very exposed to the sea breeze.Estela golf course can definitely provide a great golf experience .

Morgado Golf Course: A Championship Gem in the Algarve Nestled at the foothills of the Algarve's Monchique Mountains, just a short drive from the vibrant seaside town of Portimão and the charming fishing village of Alvor, Morgado Golf Course is home to the prestigious Portuguese Open Championship. This par-73 course offers a stunning and varied layout that caters to golfers of all levels, providing a memorable experience from start to finish. Morgado presents two distinct sets of nine holes — the front nine features a flatter landscape, while the back nine introduces more undulating terrain with breathtaking views of the Monchique Mountains. The back nine also brings an extra challenge as the valley's mountain-sided topography creates a funnel for gusting winds. The golf course is walkable for those up to the challenge, but when the weather heats up, a buggy is highly recommended, especially given the well-designed access paths to the fairways. Though the overall course length is manageable, the par 3s on the front nine stand out with two nearly 200-meter holes, requiring precision and skill. Fortunately, the shorter par 4s balance the challenge, offering opportunities for golfers to hit the green in regulation. Strategy Tip: Build a strong score on the front nine and treat it as a warm-up for the more demanding back nine. The highlight of the round comes at the spectacular 18th hole, a signature finishing hole with an elevated tee that reveals a panoramic view of the undulating fairway guarded by bunkers and the welcoming Clubhouse in the distance. It's a breathtaking scene and a fantastic way to end your round — by par, birdie, or simply with a smile on your face. Beyond the golf, Morgado offers a peaceful escape immersed in the natural beauty of this tranquil side of the Algarve. With impeccable course conditions and thoughtful management improvements, this championship course will leave you eager to return.

Quinta do Lago North Golf Course - The terrain is superb and typical of the area, sandy and littered with umbrella pines trees. In the spring, the rough is covered with a blanket of wild flowers, heather and gorse. The bunkering is incomparable, both on the fairways and surrounding the greens and gives the course an advantage over many of similar quality and design. The golf course is an anti-clockwise loop and favours the players who can draw the ball.|All the famous male and female players who have experienced this course, including 'Ryder Cup' and 'Curtis Cup' team members, have been euphoric in their praise for this course, which will soon take its place among the great European layouts.

Salgados Golf Course, situated in one of the best-known regions of the Algarve, between Albufeira and Armação de Pêra, and is already a 'postcard' of Portugual golf courses. In fact, the proximity of the sea and the variety of lakes make this a very unique and interesting test of golfing skills, different from other courses in the Algarve.|The 6,000 metre links, replete with water obstacles, is not very long, but the sea breeze obliges players to use all theyr skills to reach the greens. The accuracy of the drive is crucial for achieving good scores, thus making the course a pleasant experience, especially for technically-skilled player.

Quinta do Lago South Golf Course, favourite of many tour players, offers the possibility to hit the greens in regulation in several ways. However, each hole has one easy route and the player who sees this, and has the skill to follow the designer's intention, and produce sub-par figures. An anti-clockwise loop, it favours the draw shot.|This course favours the long hitter, but requires the player to pick a particular route to score well. Although both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine favours a draw, while the second favours a fade from the tee. It is an enjoyable experience for players of all standards. The setting of the course can be considered as unique in comparison with most other courses in Portugal. Located in the parklands of what was originally a very wealthy 14th Century Monastery that has been very carefully restored. No expense appears to have been spared in creating this course and its surroundings that includes a residential development.|The topographical layout of the 18 holes is over gently wooded hills which adds to its overall beauty. The course offers interesting water hazards, some elevated greens and added to this is the challenge of the strong winds that some times occur. This course has to be played with respect for its architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. who has created a golf course that demands skill from the most experienced golfers. The course has hosted the Portuguese Open in 1994, 1995 and 2010 and several important international events.

San Lourenco Golf is a par 72 course located in Quinta do Lago and is considered one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in Europe. The fact that this is an award-winning course is no coincidence. Bordering with the breathtaking Ria Formosa Natural Park, some of its holes are blessed with what can only be described as exquisite beauty, complemented with salt water lakes. If the first holes present no major surprise or challenges, after the 3rd, closer to the estuary, San Lourenco starts to reveal itself. After the 5th hole, a par-3 and the course's shortest, you're introduced to a dolgleg, stroke 1 sixth hole where your main challenge will be to avoid the dense shrub, so make sure you get your distances just right. As you get to the 7th, life is by no chance made easier but you still get the bonus of the outstanding views from this elevated tee before you have to focus on how to get around that green almost entirely surrounded by water. On the back nine, the 12th is the most challenging hole on San Lorenzo, featuring a deep chasm along the left of a very narrow fairway. Holes 13th to 16th also face the ocean with the latter proving to be the most demanding par-3, featuring a whole 180 m carry to a shallow green. Seventeenth is, again, extremely beautiful but still falls short of the beauty that awaits you on the last hole. It is a great finale and one that will remain in your memory as it has an excellence that is renowned worlwide. It is, without a doubt, a course for special occasions, that will provide you with unforgetably beautiful moments. Of course such a unique course had to have unique requirements concerning the booking of your green fees and that is only possible if you are a guest at the 5 star Dona Filipa Hotel nearby or by contacting a selected few like Tee Times who will make the required arrangements to book what will be one of the most special games of golf you will ever play in your life.

Estoril Golf Club dates back to 1929 in its first nine-hole version and it was built by Fausto de Figueiredo, the gambling concessionaire at the Estoril Casino. In the new design, the former 9th hole disappeared, and an alteration was made to the fairway of the 13th hole - the famous Patiño’s hole - that now has a dogleg to the right and the second shot is played from the area where the old green was located. The green is now on a higher level. With the disappearance of the 9th hole it was necessary to build another hole, which is now number 13, a par 3 of 160 metros in length.|Finally, the 16th hole has a re-designed green but it is still a par 3, 186 metres long, but 15 metres shorter than the previous one, and it is considered by many players to be one of the best holes in Portugal.

Lisbon Sports Club was established in 1861 by English residents of Lisbon and the golf course opened in 1922. But it was only in 1964 that the club took up its permanent home, the Casal da Carregueira, which is in Belas, some 15 kilometers from Lisbon. A number of difficulties - woods to the left, stream on the right, and bunkers on both sides - challenge the player even with his first shot. Then, before the golfer is properly warmed up, he has to face another Par 3, though this time with even greater difficulties. The player can enjoy unforgettable contact with nature, and admire the cypresses, the eucalyptus and wild flowers, while at the same time facing up to shots that tax his imagination. The original house on the property has been converted into a clubhouse. Its colonial style is very welcoming, and from its terrace one can see the fairways of holes 5 and 18.

This golf course is located within the Quinta da Deveza, near Amarante, where tradition and magnificent landscapes and scenery abound, in particular, the River Tamega and the Mountain of Marão. This is a truly mountainous course as it is 600 meters above sea level. It has four water hazards and covers an area of 40 hectares.|The first hole slopes deeply downwards and is 495 meters long and the last, on the contrary, rather shorter with 447 meters, slopes fairly steeply upwards. Hole 12 is 445 meters long and a good strong shot is necessary to get over the lake on the right hand side and attention should be paid to the left, because of the fencing that marks the out of bounds area. The green is defended by four bunkers.|The course cannot be classified as difficult although it does have excellent and fast greens, the majority of which are short in length.

Holes 7, 8 and 9 offer a particular challenge, where the water hazards could force a lack of concentration. Hole-10 leads play away from the northern boundary, setting up the challenge for the inward nine. Large bodies of water and meandering watercourses will test players all the way to the 18th.

This mountain course situated against the majestic backdrop of the Serra da Estrela and the Serra do Caramulo was the first golf course to be built in the Beiras region. The mountainous Montebelo golf course, dotted here and there with gorse and heather, runs through clumps of pine and oak-trees. It is divided into two parts, named according to their main geographical landmarks: the Caramulo course (the first nine holes) and the Estrela Course (the second nine holes).|Doglegs are a constant feature of this course and the final sequence is truly unforgettable: the last three holes provide breathtaking views over valleys, streams, hills, lakes and well protected greens. The most memorable hole, however, is number 12 (a long par 3, running downhill to the green with a bunker to the left and a lake behind). The hole is considered to be 'the soul of the course' because of its challenging physical characteristics and the unique landscape that surrounds it.

The Belas Clube de Campos, nested in the Carregueira mountains, is in perfect harmony with Charles Franzman master plan: the houses on the hills with view over the golf and the course in the valleys, protected from the wind. The course meanders in amongst the hillsides, affording splendid views of the Sintra hills and is divided into two well defined parts: one with low density residential surroundings and the other through an untouched natural environment.|There are two holes that are particularly notable for their beauty and their challenging qualities: the second hole, a par 5 called 'Augusta' was built in homage to the 13 th hole of the famous course where the US Masters tournament takes place; hole number 18, a memorable par 4 final hole, was christened the 'Big Hole' because of the second shot that players must take makes some 180 meters from the green, which is well protected by a fearsome lake.

Isla Canela Golf course is situated within a Nature Reserve where the river Guadiana empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Its beautiful location and the mild climate of the region make it an ideal destination for golfing all year around. The golf course, designed by Juan Catarineu, is successfully integrated into existing flat terrain and is very comfortable to walk. Wide fairways run between natural dunes and many trees - oranges, olives, eucalyptuses and palms- have been introduced not only to enhance the location but, by their position, to provide natural hazards. At first sight it looks like an easy golf course, but it has its hidden difficulties.

Developed by David McLay-Kidd, the par-71 links-style Dunas Course was constructed with the highest sustainable norms, resulting in approximately 84 hectares of natural, sandy terrain that is expected to evoke parallels to some of the most renowned golf courses in the world, upon its summer 2023 debut. There will be a brand new clubhouse and golf academy built to complement the new Dunas Course. With Festuca grass-sown fairways, this course offers a formidable test of skill in a breathtaking backdrop. The length of the course, 6,597 metres, makes it exceptionally difficult and calls for pinpoint precision. There are six alternative tee boxes for each hole, so you may play at your own pace, whether that's a leisurely stroll around the park or a serious challenge to the course.

Álamos Golf Course Lying to the north of Portimão it is a neighbor of another Algarve Golf Course, Morgado do Reguengo. When playing Álamos golf course, players can enjoy great views of the Monchique mountains, lakes, and farmland, there is a real sense of getting away from it all there. It’s shorter than Morgado (Par 71) but it has all the features necessary to fulfill the expectations of the most demanding player. More than a test of golf, the Alamos Golf course attests to the harmony which may be achieved between the man-made and nature itself.Undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers and steeply sloping greens define this wonderful golf course.Pray that your put is hot and the reward is guaranteed

Penina Champoinship Golf Course was previously known as the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Golf Course. The main 18 holes provide the most demanding test of a players skill in the Algarve, if not in Portugal. The inevitable difficulty that a flat landscape and terrain creates with club selection, the holes are crossed and flanked by a series of streams, ditches and water hazards, demanding precisely executed shots to avoid trouble and achieve par.|The course is beautifully maintained, winding past tall stands of eucalyptus and clumps of palm to mainly elevated greens which have subtle slopes and sometimes treacherous speeds.

Benamor golf course was the first golf course to open east of the Algarve, and lies just outside the city of Tavira. This course offers a pleasant experience, to players of all standards. The golf course is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses provide good lies for wood and iron shots. Player's accuracy is particularly called upon by the architects' retention of as many of the old trees as feasible. These natural obstacles coupled with strategically placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge. This golf course was selected as the Best Maintained Course in 2001 by the Portuguese Golf Federation.

Castro Marim golf course has breathtaking mountain, river and sea views, all part of the spectacular scenery to be enjoyed by those wishing to take walks merely throughout the surrounding countryside. The golf course has been designed to any level of golfer. The challenging aspects of the golf course, whilst providing interest to the expert, are also a test to the ability of the average handicap golfer and yet remain pleasurable to both. A driving range, chipping and putting green have also been built so as to provide ever important practice facilities. These are supervised by a team of golf professionals who are more than happy to assist you in improving your game. The entire golf course is irrigated by an underground so called 'leaky pipe' system. This enables golfers to play at times when courses with conventional aerial sprinklers would normally be unavailable.

The existence of Miramar Golf Club is due to the initiative of Frank Gordon and the Portuguese Cláudio e Mário Martins. In 1931, they decided to create a golf club more open to the Portuguese, who in this way could have easier access to golf. Its first General Meeting was held in 1934.|The course was designed by Frank Gordon and Artur Mariani Jr. It is a par 70 - 35 for each of the two nine-hole rounds and it has some holes that deserve a special reference. For example, the green of the 7th hole and hole number 9, a par 4 of exceptional class for its length, the difficulty of the out-of-bounds to the right, as well as a fast green defended by a bunker in front and another one behind. These are excellent holes, that any good player would appreciate playing.

Located on the famous Estoril Coast, 25 kilometers from Lisbon, the Quinta da Marinha course was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones and is set in a private estate of 110 hectares, wooded with pine trees. The architect has worked on the flat terrain, laying out the course over 5870 metres for a Par 71. The most spectacular hole on this course is hole number 3, a Par 4 of 334 metres sloping down towards the sea. Once on the green, the golfer has the Atlantic Ocean as background. The whole of Quinta da Marinha's course is surrounded by beautiful panoramic views. The following hole (a Par 3) requires a very precise shot for the ball to cross a cliff and reach a wide but not very deep green. For most of the course, however, the fairways face inland with the beautiful outline of the Sintra mountain range forming their background. Many bunkers and a number of lakes make the player's task even more difficult. Hole number 10, for instance, has a green entirely surrounded by water.

Achada das Furnas golf course is situated on São Miguel Island, «the green island», near the grottoes or furnas, and the lake with that name, places which show the volcanic origin of these islands.|A new nine-hole course designed by Cameron Powell has been added to the previous one. It maintains the character given by Mackenzie Ross, so much so that it is impossible to say nowadays which two nines was designed first. The separation of the fairways is almost always made by cryptomerias, large trees that, in our opinion, are the most suitable for the purpose. The course has all the characteristics of a Scottish one and it is the most British of all Portuguese golf courses. Practically every fairway is undulated, requiring all types of shots, and the greens are excellent and full of borrows.

Golf St Antonio , ex Parque da Floresta , is situated near the fishing village of Salema, near Sagres - one of the most important places in Portuguese and European history - and close to the Costa Vicentina nature reserve.|A hilly course, with sharply sloping fairways, several blind shots, and greens on hill tops, creating a strange but very pleasant effect, perfectly integrated into the landscape. As for playing the course, we feel that it becomes too tired sometimes unappealing to golfers who are not so young.

Montado course is surrounded by famous muscatel vineyards that were planted there more than a century ago. The course unfolds beneath old oaks and younger olive trees, chestnut and pines, planted when the course was first built, whilst around it wind creeks and natural lakes.|Some holes are unforgettable. Hole number 5, a Par 4 with a dogleg to the left, demands a good drive in which the second shot is played onto a wide green protected by water. Another hole of great scenic beauty is number 13, a Par 4 that provides a great view over Palmela Castle and an excellent opportunity for a birdie. On this course the golfer is almost always offered two choices for playing the holes. The riskier option implies heavy penalties if the shot is not accurately hit.

Troia Golf Championship Course is a spectacular links, and one of the most fascinating golf challenges in Portugal. The magazine Golf World elected in 2003, as the 25th best European Golf Course. The usual approach to the golf course is straight over the Estuary of the Sado River - a pleasant short ferry ride from Setubal to the Peninsula of Troia, a region of great natural beauty near the Atlantic Ocean.|The greens are small with naturally shaped defensive bunkers and hummocks, while the fairways are narrow and hemmed in by sandy dunes and pine trees, providing a genuine test of skill for the lowers handicap golfers together with enjoyment for the more modest players.|The front nine has a run of beautiful sea holes. Troia Golf Championship Course offers you a comfortable and welcoming Clubhouse, constructed in a rustic style, with a set of first class facilities services: golf reception, pro-shop, bar, restaurant and a large balcony to the 18th Green and also a excellent Driving Range with two putting-greens and one chipping and bunker practice area.

Porto Santo’s brand-new golf course stretches all the way across the island from dune-rolling beach to dramatic basalt cliffs. It offers that ideal combination - natural beauty and a challenging game. The layout was designed to blend in with the natural landscape, and immense care was taken to minimize impact on the environment. It features two distinct zones - a South Course in the American tradition, dotted with lakes and demanding a long, precise game; and a North Course played along spectacular cliff tops.|There is also a nine-hole 'pitch-and-putt' course of par-three holes (ideal for training precision shots), and a driving range. The clubhouse is a triumph of modern design, but blends harmoniously into the landscape, with its dry-stone walling, natural wood and hip wicker furniture.
