What connects Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, Dave Thomas, and Robert Trent Jones? A simple solution: all these famous golfers have designed golf courses in Andalusia.
Andalusia is one of the most popular golf holiday locations in the world, so it's no surprise that you can rely on a high standard of quality and service there.
For example, the Montecastillo layout was designed by Jack Nicklaus, widely considered the sport's greatest player of all time. This golf course enjoys a fantastic record as a location for significant international competitions, including five editions of the Volvo Masters. Nicklaus has designed almost 300 golf courses around the world.
Also present in the region, Gary Player made a work of art in the Zaudín. Gary Player himself described it as one of the most beautiful of his career.
The great Severiano Ballesteros has also left his mark in Andalusia. His first 18 holes were in the Novo Sancti Petri Pines & Sea course. Most recently, in 2008, he designed the San Roque New course.
Almenara golf course was created by Dave Thomas. In the same way, he put his signature in the final nine holes of La Cañada, while the first nine were the work of Robert Trent Jones, who also designed Valderrama and Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande.

Alcornoques und Lagos sind zwei interessante, abwechslungsreiche Plätze mit viel Wasser und für Anfänger eher ungeeignet. Insgesamt eine eher luxioröse Anlage mit entsprechenden Preisen in der Gastro. Mit Golfamore würde ich immer wieder hier spielen. -**- Alcornoques and Lagos are two interesting, varied courses with lots of water and are rather unsuitable for beginners. Would not play again. Course poor condition. Very wet and long grass. Greens in poor condition. Signage on some holes not clear and directions. Too many par 3 holes. The bunkers were big and lots of them, I suppose to make the course play a little more difficult. Most bunkers were not raked as there was no rake to use. The complete club needs serious attention. Our first time at Lauro and first impressions are great when you walk into the courtyard setting for the pro shop, bar and restaurant terraces. It’s a serine area to relax and have a drink. The people in the pro shop and bar are all very friendly, as was the Marshall (more of him later). There are 3 x 9 holes and we were allocated 10-27, we understand that 1-18 is probably the favoured combination but we were happy enough. The course is relatively tight and fairly long if you attempt it of the white tees, 6078m and they were placed right at the back, which is unusual but nice to see. The tees, fairways and greens were all in decent condition & although we waited on every shot behind a very slow fourball for 4 holes (seems to be our luck this trip!), the Marshall came to the rescue & made them let us play through. We then had a lovely relaxing remainder of the round enjoying the views of the Mijas mountains as we played. Overall a very enjoyable 4 hours, thanks to a Marshall who actually does something about slow play, a rarity these days! Read more about Lauro Golf Course

I think , this is one of the most underestimated golf courses in Andalucia. Very ice course with broad fairways , fairways and greens vwey well prepaired.Surroundings in original status , dont losse a ball , very difficult to find again.Buggy very well recommended for elderly people.Everything looks very sophisticated , also clubhouse with very freinsl receptionist.Almost no people on the course.Funny enough , everything was closed , when we finishes at 14.00 h( also reception ) No food ( see tripadvisor ) , no drinks , nothing , still we liked very much the course with wonderful look to Arcos.
